I was really disappointed by HP 4 & 5 so I'm not expecting much from 6. It seems the longer the books got, the more content seemed to be left out of the films and the quality declined IMO of course. I'm glad for the 2-part Deathly Hallows though.

Out of your list I would have said Tropic Thunder, but my most anticipated is that obvious Oscar-bait film at the end of the year with that amazing, spell-bounding trailer. Fincher, Pitt, Blanchett, Swinton... yep it's gotta be The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button for me! So basically I'll vote for that once it's added to the list!

Mmmm... Only one film to choose... there are too many...

I'd have to say... "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". Fincher adapting Fitzgerald, after the masterpiece that was "Zodiac", is clearly the most exciting film to come.

Also prety exciting :
Oliver Stone's W
Eastwood's Changeling
Australia
The Road
The Brothers Bloom
Van Sant's Milk

And on the international market : Kim Jee Woon's "The Good, the Bad, the Weird", and Jean-François Richet's double feature about French criminal Mesrine : "Death Instinct" and "Public Enemy number 1", starring Vincent Cassel.

Eh, about 100 pages less or so, but still far longer than the first three books were. So by that logic Half-Blood Prince should be better than Goblet Of Fire and Order Of The Phoenix because there will be less content left out. But even then, the 1st 2 HP movies were ordinary IMO not because of the content, but because the actors (Radcliffe, Watson & Grinch) were SO raw, and just weren't ready. HP3 along with Cuaron's direction has been the pinnacle of HP movies so far, but with 4 + 5 being so disappointing, I'm not expecting much from 6. No doubt it'll make a tonne of money though...

No, no, no, no, no!

Goblet Of Fire was actually the 1st HP book I read, and was the one that got me into the series. I was throughly, thoroughly disappointed in the film, they left EVERYTHING out... I can't recall anything right now, but they stripped the plot of the film paper-thin - revolving around the Tri-Wizard Tournament and almost nothing else, they hardly developed any of the secondary characters that were made prominent specifically in the GOF book (Cedric Diggory, Mad-Eye Moody, Barty Crouch etc), skimped on everything that you probably found superfluous Buscemi, but most of us HP fans truly enjoyed. The film just bastardized the Harry Potter series into a straight competition - like a wild goose chase which we already know the ending to.

Alfonso Cuaron brought something different to the plate with Prizoner Of Azkaban, whereas Mike Newell just went by the book with Goblet of Fire - and even then, he only incorporated one strand of the book and nothing else. I can't describe how disappointed I was with GOF, one of the most disappointing films of this millenium, I reckon...

Buscemi, are you on something? Like horse tranquilisers? Or are you just trolling?

The whole idea of Oldman's character is that he seems nasty but actually becomes a father figure for Harry. To achieve that you need charisma. Jason Statham has as much charisma as the lint in my pockets. I've seen more charm in a single cell amoeba suffering from Alzheimers.

That's just silly. Schumacher could have never made "Y Tu Mama Tambien".
Y Tu Mama Tambien was basically two hours of men running around in the nude. It's the project Joel Schumacher wishes he could make. Hell, that was probably the original idea for Batman Forever and Batman and Robin.

You could say my hatred for Cuaron began when I saw a children's matinee of A Little Princess in the theatre when I was eight. I basically forgot who he was until I saw Y Tu Mama Tambien and the third Harry Potter when I was thirteen. Since then, I've never understood why people like the guy.

And Children Of Men was very overrated. I saw it with Luc Besson's Arthur and the Minimoys (Arthur and the Invisibles) and Besson's film was far and away better.

Haha- I feel the exact opposite. I was really happy that they kept getting longer and was kind of disappointed with how short the last one was. I would have been happy for the series to continue on forever with books of 800+ pages.

I generally don't like the actors they cast, the environment they shot in is nice enough but its not Forks (I actually grew up in the town they go to throughout the series for movies or shopping), and it just seems they are turning it into watered down teen love story. I literally went nights without sleeping to read this book series because it was so good I couldn't stop, the story transcends genre and age, and I don't believe there is any possible way with the combination mentioned above, they could do it justice.

I wouldn't worry yet. It's just a teaser and the distribution company is still getting the hang of things. A final trailer should be ready for Halloween and by December 12th things should be looking good for Summit Entertainment's first hit as a domestic distributor.

Also, Catherine Hardwicke is a reliable director and production designer* (the exception was Lords Of Dogtown where Stacy Peralta turned the interesting and entertaining real story into a film about himself and Tony Alva) so I respect her filmmaking decisions. But I don't read the books, I just want a vampire film.

Re:Most anticipated movie for the rest of 08

Kevin Smith should show that he has balls and keep the NC-17. Ang Lee did with Lust, Caution and got some thank yous from the film fans.

And Ron, ratings are very inconsistent in the US. This is a country where Rambo can get a R rating for its non-stop graphic violence but a film like Lust, Caution gets a NC-17 for three strong sex scenes that take up just ten minutes of the film's two hour and thirty-seven minute run time. It might as well be the Republican Party running the MPAA.

More bad examples:
-Whale Rider's PG-13 for an drug reference that really isn't a drug reference while RV gets a PG for its constant gross-out humor.
-I Capture The Castle's R rating for a brief shot of female nudity (luckily the restrictions for female nudity are getting looser).
-Orgazmo and Happiness's NC-17 ratings for sexual content while American Pie escaped with a R rating.
-Son Of Rambow's PG-13 rating (sure they say fuck once but the rating should have been appealed).
-Fahrenheit 9/11 getting a R rating for a far-away shot of an actual beheading (footage that appeared on the news) and four uses the word motherfucker. Meanwhile, Gunner Palace gets a PG-13 for 42 uses of fuck and its variants and more violence than Fahrenheit 9/11. The change was apparently so the film could be used as an Army recruitment tool.
-John Waters losing an appeal to make A Dirty Shame a R rating despite the film basically being a live-action cartoon. Same thing with Sony losing an appeal (and editing a few seconds of blood) pf Kung Fu Hustle to make that a PG-13. Meanwhile, Beowulf and Angelina Jolie's full-frontal nude scene got a PG-13 (possibly due to the editing of blood from Robert Zemeckis's NC-17/unrated director's cut).
