You all are setting yourself up for a huge fall. Batman is not going to be as the article says...plus in the end it will turn out too dark for kids. 

I think yall are underestimating the kids. There were kids with their parents when i went to go watch Wanted, 300, and The Happening which we're all rated R. I also remember kids in Batman Begins and it was kinda dark. The latest Harry Potters are pretty dark. TDK is PG-13. I think one of the reasons that yall are saying its 'too dark' is because of the Heath Ledger's passing, which i do agree adds a certain factor of darkness, if thats what you want to call it. Most kids wont know about it, so it wont affect them. Am i making any sense? my head hurts Honestly, I think it has a chance of having the biggest OW, and so far the pre-sales have been supporting that 

People are hypocrites nowadays. They teach their kids about family values and censorship....then take their five-year-olds to see Rambo. 

Well im just so full of glee because ive just found out that The Dark Knight has been moved from July 23rd to July 16th! That means ill be seeing it b4 all you FMers (well most of u), just wanted to rub it in. BUZZZZZZZZZZZZ 

It opened in 6, 3 in LA and 3 in NY, I've been searching around for estimates as well. If I get any info I'll post it here.

I'm pretty sure they were calling it a bomb from an actual film standpoint. Not an FM standpoint. Obviously worth it in terms of this game, but the movie business would have liked to see it bring in more BO dollars. Studio execs don't get paid for PTA points. 

I really feel sorry for the poor person sitting directly in front of me at The Dark Knight. And if there is a Watchmen trailer on during it the poor person is going to feel like a glazed doughnut after the movie... 

Does anyone else think- in '10 things i hate about you' that Joseph Gordan-Levitt looks like Ledgers long lost brother or something? 

Can I even begin to describe how excited I am for this movie?!?!?! It has already eclipsed how excited I was for Spider-Man 2 by far. The only other thing I can think of with this level of anticipation is Watchmen. 

I've just thought about this. Dark Knight may be breaking pre-sale records, but all that means is that walkup sales will be non-existent over the weekend. A lot of pre-sales doesn't automatically mean more money than it'd make otherwise; you can't make a full auditorium even fuller. 

Yes, Magnum is way cool..... And that TDK buzz almost makes it sound like it'll break 400M!!! Whoever hasn't seen Zoolander should, just for Hansel, he's so hot right now......oh and for David Duchovny......oh and for the No dialogue bit part for Vince Vaughn......oh and for the multitude of celebrities that claim they know Zoolander...........oh and for that bit where Ben Stiller real life wife get down and dirty with Stiller, O Wilson and a horde or dwarves! Tropic Thunder will be even better! 

Okay, just saw TDK. At 150 minutes it certainly won't be breaking any records. It may break some IMDB records though, as it is damn good. It's about twice as good as Batman Begins.

Just a random note, I'll be seeing The Dark Knight tomorrow. Suck on that, people who have to wait another 48 hours+. As for you people who've seen it already, you make me sick... :D

I'm watching it twice tomorrow. Once in the morning in Gold Class, and the other at night at the good old Hoyts Cinemas. Still don't have my tickets for the night show, but i booked my opening day Gold Class tickets 9 days ago, most showings OD in Gold Class and Directors Suite have sold out.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest ran 151 minutes and briefly held the opening weekend record. The Dark Knight would be a minute shorter from your estimate.

I even read that some of the 3 AM and 6 AM showings are sold out also. That is crazy talk. If this keeps up for the 2nd and third weeks, there is NO WAY for this movie to make under 400 Mil. I was hoping for 350. If my wishes came true, TDK would drop that fucking Titanic movie from the top of the list. Then shortly after that we would outlaw stupid people, annoying mufflers and spoilers on compact cars, and Eddie Murphy movies. We would also retroactively impeach Dubya in 2002. The world would be much better...

And I know a lot of people feel like I do, it might not be like Titanic which had teenage girls seeing it like 47 times but I know there are a lot of people that will see this movie more than once in theaters.

... you didn't understand my post. It had nothing to do with how many times people see it. What I'm saying is, it doesn't matter if there are people seeing it at least twice opening weekend. That's to be expected, and I don't refute that. What I AM saying is, even if that's the case, those tickets are already sold. Yes, many showings are already sold out. That doesn't mean the movie will make more money all of a sudden, just because tickets are purchased earlier than the day of the screening. It's not like pre-sold tickets cost more and that's why the movie will break moneymaking records. All these Fandango and MovieTickets.com reports mean is that box office attendants can sit there and twiddle their thumbs on Friday and Saturday (figuratively...) because everyone will already have their tickets. I do think that $120-130 million is in sight, but the opening weekend record is not. 

To be honest I think most would be satisfied with $120m, anything higher would just be a fantastic bonus!! 

Meanwhile, every IMAX show in New York City this weekend is sold out.  

By all accounts this should be Hollywood's best-ever 3-day overall North American weekend at the box office: the number to beat is last year's $151+ million. 

Why get there so early? Surely you have your seats already? I can't stand hanging around multiplexes hours before the showing. I get there just in time so that I can see all the trailers, unless if I want to listen in on other moviegoers conversations about how funny The Step Brothers looks or how awesome 10,000 BC was, or even how original Step Up 2 The Streets was (yes, I have heard that comment, about a sequel....).
