Looks like all Marvel was waiting for is to make a profit before announcing their upcoming movies. Does anybody else think that we might get Superhero fatigue? Theres going to be Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, The Avengers, Spiderman 4, Wolverine, Magneto, Superman 2, Hulk 2 (If it does well), I'm sure there will be Batman 3, The newly announced teen x-men movie and I'm sure im forgetting some. Thats 11 comicbook movies in the next 3 years.

Comingsoon.net.......
Marvel Entertainment released their first quarter report to its shareholders this morning to coincide with the announcement about the success this past weekend of Marvel Studios' first production Iron Man, which grossed an estimated $104.2 million domestically and over $201 million worldwide. The announcement included an update of Marvel Studios' feature film slate with the already-rumored Iron Man 2 announced for a release on April 30, 2010, followed by three more movies for the summers of '10 and '11. Matthew Vaughn's Thor is set for a release on June 4, 2010, and The First Avenger: Captain America (the working title) will kick off the summer of 2011 on May 6, followed by the highly-anticipated and foreshadowed The Avengers scheduled for July 2011. (Edgar Wright's Ant-Man is also listed as being in development with no release date set.)

In a conference call this morning, Marvel Studios' David Maisel said that Iron Man 2 will be used to introduce Thor. Regarding more "Hulk" movies, Maisel said "We definitely plan on continuing." He added that development continues on Spider-Man 4. "I can't give any other updates other than to say it's in development and everybody's excited about 'Spider-Man 4,'" he said.

Cinameblend......
Though it looks like there won’t be an X-Men 4, the X-Men franchise will continue to live on in a series of spin-offs. We already know Fox is planning spin-offs featuring Wolverine and Magneto, but now it looks like they may have another in development as well.

DarkHorizons has picked up a story from BlackBookMag, in which they interview Josh Schwartz, the creator and producer of such shows as Chuck and The O.C.. Schwartz claims he’s been hired to write an X-Men spin-off script, one which caters to his particular talent for glossy teen angst.

The movie will be the oft rumored mutant teen flick, centering around kids attending the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. This might actually be a good idea… if they hadn’t needlessly killed of Professor X in X3. I’d love a mutant film with Patrick Stewart in his wheel chair playing mentor to a bunch of upstart, hormonal teens with godlike powers. Sadly, it’s unlikely they could get Picard back, even if hey hadn’t already killed him off. Stewart has better things to do.

There’s some history in the X-Men comic world to back up the notion of a young X-Men spin-off. Comics like the “New Mutants” and “Generation X” have in the past chronicled the adventures of teenage mutants. And of course they’ve already established younger characters in the films they could use. Teenage mutants like Jubilee and Shadowcat have made significant cameos. In fact, it’s sort of surprising this hasn’t happened before now.

Well, Superman and Batman aren't Marvel properties... but I get what you're saying about superhero fatigue.

Josh Schwartz is one of those writers (Akiva Goldsman, Simon Kinberg, J.S. Cardone, the Meet The Spartans guys) who shouldn't be allowed to write. The O.C. was basically a ripoff of 90210 and not surprisingly ended as fast as it did. Hollywood should be actually be offering deals to people who actually can write (James Gunn, Kerry Conran, Michael Tolkin, Ron Bass, Shane Black) instead of talentless hacks/cocksuckers.

Also, expect The Avengers to get a slight name change before opening. Possibly as Marvel's Avengers (to avoid confusion with the classic television series).

And The Green Lantern should be a trilogy (each one focusing on the three incarnations) and The Flash should solely be a Barry Allen affair with possibly Shane Black directing over Shawn "My Uncle Gets Me Work" Levy.

If you check out our buddy Stan Lee you can at least get a good smattering of what's to come:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0498278/
# Nick Fury (2010) (announced) (character)
# Doctor Strange (2010) (announced) (comic book & characters)
# Ant-Man (2010) (announced) (comic book)
# Spider-Man 4 (2009) (announced) (characters)
# Silver Surfer (2009) (announced) (characters)
# Thor (2009) (pre-production) (characters)
# X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) (filming) (characters)

Personally though its the most unfamiliar to me of those listed, I'm most interested in Doctor Strange... Guillermo Del Toro + Neil Gaiman = WIN

Most likely not to happen are Deathlok, Star Blazers, Sgt. Rock (this was in development for YEARS, dating back to at least 1986, with Schwarznegger but will now never happen), Iron Fist and live-action versions of Blood: The Last Vampire, Lupin The Third and Akira (an early estimated budget of a possible version was over $300 million...in the 1990's).

Meanwhile, it wouldn't surprise me if a US remake of Asterix happened eventually.

I'm surprised they didn't greenlight "Captain America" until now, seems like a prime material to adapt. As forr the rumour of Matthew McConaughey (most positively spelt that wrong) being the front-runner for the role - I don't see it. But someone suggested he'd be perfect as Thor and considering it, I think that'd be a much better fit.

Becs: your second list has Sin City 2 (2010) coming out after Sin City 3 (2009). Now that would be something different.
If kids in USA have similar taste to mine Teen Titans will be huge. They love that show.
Lots of these look interesting. Especially Y: The Last Man, and O.C.T., and of course, Watchmen.
Is The Ghost Who Walks another Phantom movie? I read this comic heaps when I was young and was so disappointed in the movie. Is it redemption time?

Ooo, you mentioned "Phantom" and I just got chills. I can still remember all the green stones and Billy Zane. Hah! I think I actually enjoyed it as a kid. Wouldn't mind seeing an update. And as far as "Teen Titans", bring 'em on!! "Constantine 2"? Why did it take so long? Is it even real?

Is it the same one that was to be directed by Chuck Russell (director of another comic book film, The Mask)?

Actually, Captain America was adapted in the 1990's. Menahem Golan produced it and it bombed in international release and went straight to video in the US. It's faded into obscurity and not surprisingly so.

Meanwhile the full title of the new one will be Captain America: The First Avenger and is opening in 2011. The Avengers (which may become Marvel's The Avengers before opening) opens two months later.
