So basically you can sign a petition to get Uwe Boll to stop making movies. If it hits 1,000,000 signatures (have that many people even seen his movies?), his career is over.

Wow I hope if I am ever famous no one starts a petition to get me to stop writing. LOL That would be hard to handle. Poor guy...

No offense to him but with looks such as his he should feel dam good he made it this far. At least by people trying to get rid of him they at least know his name.

It doesn't matter whether he stops making movies or not. Uwe Boll is not a man. He is not his movies. He is only his reputation. I have never seen one of his movies, but I know they're terrible because that's who Uwe Boll is.

Wow, that's a pretty bold statement. I've never seen any of his movies either. But they must be terrible because of how badly people hate him. I didn't sign the petition, not because I want him to keep making movies, but I kind of feel bad for him. I mean you shouldn't hate a guy because he makes movies that are absolutely terrible, can you?

Has anyone actually claimed to hate Uwe Boll though? The petition is just to stop him making movies, not to extinguish him from the planet.
I have seen trailers to his movies and they were enough for me to sign my name, although I do kinda agree with Donte. It would be horrible to be a film maker with so little respect that people are actually petitioning to stop doing the thing you love.

Hate, no. Dislike, yes. Not because he makes bad movies, but because he insists he doesn't, is really using his movies as a tax shelter scheme, is incredibly arrogant, responded to critics by challenging them to a boxing match (then he "hand selected" only opponents he thought he could beat, that weighed less and were shorter than him) and most importantly to video gamers, he is ruining, absolutely ruining, beloved video game franchises.

Just to make things clear.. I would DEFINITELY sign that petition.
I think the guy is scum, not only in terms of the movies he makes.

that petition would only serve to show that (at least) one million people care strongly about Uwe Boll... if anything, the one thing that could possibly come out of it is a biopic on the life of Uwe Boll

I can see it now already - It will be like an anti Ed Wood, where he is despised for his bad filmmaking rather than loved!

Exactly. And hence having one million people showing strong feelings either way regarding Uwe Boll will keep him in the film industry. Signing that thing isn't worth the effort, nor will it actually achieve anything.
Can you imagine, IF the petition somehow manages to get to 1,000,000, Mr. Boll will then just say he was kidding, and continue making crap films anyway...

Yeah, I'm not going to sign it. Not because I like his films, in fact, I haven't even seen one of them. Nope, I will not sign because once you show that his "art" has affected ya in one way or another, he has done his job. So, I'll just stay neutral and impartial in this matter.

and then there's the moral debate of even responding to this thread or not

Oh I agree anny, he will not stop even if the goal is reached, and yes he will twist it around to mean that he should keep making movies...somehow. But on the other hand, maybe those funding his films will take a step back and rethink what they're doing. (A biopic on the other hand is a little far fetched, maybe if 10 million signed, but not just because a million people signed a petition.)

It took all of 5 seconds to type my name and email address...(Then another 5 to type in my wife's)

Sometimes, JackO, being neutral and impartial can be mutually exclusive. This happens to be one of those times.

Err, you are joking, right NSpannaus? (a moral debate over responding to a thread?)
On a lighter note, if you want something much more entertaining than this, read the actual interview where he says he'll quit making movies with 1 million votes. You get to read while he claims to support PETA in one question, even going so far as to donate all of his money from a movie to PETA, and then defends using a kitten as a silencer in Postal (and then says they had no problem with it so they can laugh about it too, why because he's giving them hundreds of thousands of dollars?).
