transformers2:
Yeah Nico i wasnt alive when the Da Bears cruisfied the patriots.
Ohhhhh... Damn, man, I'm old. I was friggin' THERE, dude, at the SuperDome! (And, um, fifteen at the time.) Damn.... man... I'm OLD. I already said that, didn't I? Damn.
Rex Grossman aka Sexy Rexy is terrible
He's no Jim McMahon, that's for certain, but, you know, I felt bad for him Sunday. He pulled it out, scored a TD all by hisself, and the crowd went wild -- he'd almost never scrambled like that before! Seriously, he showed a new gear, for all of, like, two or three downs. Then, not ten minutes later, he's getting booooooed and everyone's chanting, "Gries-e! Gries-e!" Well, and welcome to the big leagues, I guess. I just hope Jerry signs soon-to-be-free agent Romo, SOON, or else WE might end up with Grossman as OUR QB1 next season! And then, I'll have to become, like, an 'Aints or Texans fan, or a soccer fan, or something.
I remain, as always...
Nico.
P.S. Griese's just a Band-Aid... But, yeah, they need to pull Gross and stick him in there, now. But I suspect Rex will get on, somewhere, and be a starter again, someday...

Yeah... That was a hard day for a lot of folks, the first time the Pats had made it to the Big Show... And Da Bears! just rolled right over us. (I'm from Connecticut, originally, btw.) 1990 was the bottom for me... But I kept on, especially after Bill Parcells was named head coach. However, when Tuna hit the road, so did I, and I began my long, slow fall toward Cowboy worship.
I think the 'Boys have an outstanding head coach now, btw, in Wade Phillips -- and with Jason Garrett as the heir apparent, I think we're in for many, many good years with the new-look Cowpokes.
I remain, as always...
Nico.

Eh, it was a foregone conclusion... The only thing surprising me about this is that it took all of Monday to decide this. I knew Orton wouldn't get the call, he's too green.

How awesome would it be if we could get Chris Berman to do the voiceovers for our leagues? I imagine it would go somelike this:
"Down in Dallas, we've got Nicodemus taking the opening kickoff... it looks like he's gang-tackled at the 10 but NO! He hands it off to Emile Hirsch, the undrafted rookie from the Alaskan wilderness! He makes a brilliant juke movie and he's out to midfield!
"Meanwhile, over in Arizona, Shryke is about to put in The Rock as his star quarterback, but NO! He pull the fake on the defense by putting in Ang Lee's new baby! Oh, the other team wasn't expecting that, Joe!
"Meanwhile, over in Paris, Chien is attempting to take "Control" of the NFC's Joy Division with a promising young rookie leading the way. He throws a Hail Mary (WHOOOOOP!), and it's CAUGHT inside the 10 yard line Denzel "American Gangsta" Washington! He's rumblin', bumblin', stumblin', he dives for the pylon, HE'S IN!!!!
"Over to Ireland, where the old pro who prefers to go by the numeral on his jersey, number six himself, is pulling out all the stops to vanquish his longtime rival, AndTheWinnerIs. He's got a pretty staunch offense warming up, but he's most famous for having the best kicker in the league, who leads the FML in PATs (or PTAs) for three of the last four seasons...

[Sheepish grin] Well, look at it this way: If you don't remember the last few seconds of "Godfellas," it won't matter. Otherwise, um, well...

Nico:
"he got hisself in a bunch of trouble last season"
Ah, say no more. There weren't too many other adults who got themselves in heaps of trouble. Your friend's doing a bang-up job, btw. Although I do wish there was some reaction to Lyla's demolition derby.
Tuan:
I definitely gotta agree with you re: Heroes. I was a late comer to the party and caught up to the entire season just about the week before the finale, so I was feeling SO much story-telling momentum. The finale was totally disappointing IMO. Haven't seen the season premiere yet, though...

Vive: Will do, and thanks! He's fairly smacking his lips in anticipation of what his character's being asked to do this (hopefully, not last, tho as I understand it the cast and crew are all proceeding from that assumption, at least for the moment) season... He tried his darnedest to invest [edited] with surprising depth and, even, touching devotion, to break the mould of the stereotypical, one-dimensional foil / boob and create, you know, a living, breathing, character. And I agree, btw -- some not-instantly-resolveable "fallout" / repercussions, beyond who hops into whose (pickup truck) bed, sure would be nice to see from this Peabody Award-winning primetime dramatic series.
Haven't seen him in several weeks, as he's been on-location. I never press him for details -- among friends, that's, well, just plain rude -- but if I catch a whiff of anything I'll be sure to pass it along. (I have to admit, tho, I'm really trying to stay "unspoiled." the show's just too good to unwrap it before Christmas Morning, y'know what I mean?
Again, glad you've discovered the appeal of Dillon, Texas, and its State Championship high school football team!
I remain, as always...
Nico. (Whose own home team is now #3 in the statewide 5A rankings! Fight 'em, Eagles! Beat the hell outta Plano!)

Yes, transformers, I am a Cardinals "fan".
However, as most football enthusiasts can appreciate, the word "fan" as it has applied to the Arizona Cardinals for the last two decades is defined as: "someone who goes into each season with the greatest of hopes, but is invariably disappointed and is the third or fourth one to jump off the bandwagon in disgust, which happens at a point in the season (around Week 7 or so) that coincides with the beginning of the Suns' basketball season."
At the moment, "we" are 1-2, with all three games being decided by a field goal or less... and we've got the effin' Steelers coming in this weekend. Oh, my head...
And the guy in Chuck (that's the brand new TV series, not the movie, for those uninformed) is Captain Awesome, not Mr. Awesome. Get it right, ratface. (Wink, grin.)

[Hanging head in limp, unprotesting, unlimited Nerd Herd-esque shame] My bad.

P.S. That's strange... are Cardinals fans and Red Sox nationals related, by any chance? 'Cos you basically just described me and everyone I know.

At least Anquan Boldin put up some good numbers last week, right? (I have him on my fantasy football squad, so I certainly appreciate the effort.)
