Hello all!

Now that we're into the send month of competition in Round 1, and the contestants are starting to spread out a little more, I've decided to take the Round 1 Standings Pages a little further.

If you are in the area colored green, it means you are currently in the Top 5%, and are eligible for an Immunity Marker should you stay there; red means you are below the line of safety, and you'll need to make your way above it in order to avoid elimination. Yellow applies to everyone else.

Anyway, here they are:

Ultimate Tournament, Full-Year

Things are starting to get interesting!

By the way, the following contestants STILL have not signed up for their Round 2 leagues. Remember: on February 12th, the leagues are locked, and if you haven't signed up for Round 2 by then, you will be DISQUALIFIED. Don't let this happen!

Grant R - all four
timpad - Ult FY

I am happy to say, EVERYONE ELSE has entered. Thank you very much, people!

Just a question Shryke. How does the immunity process work? I'm assuming if you ever finish in the Top 10% then the next time you're in the Bottom 10% you're safe, or is it if you're in the Top 10%, then the immunity only works if you're Bottom 10% in the next round only?

If this makes any sense at all...

Anny, if you earn an IM, then you get to keep it in the bank until such a time that you finish in the bottom 10% (or 20% in the HY leagues). However, once you've used your IM, you can't earn another one.

So potentially we could have people in Round 1 in the Top 10% with immunity, then a different Top 10% in Round 2 with immunity and a different Top 10% in Round 3 with immunity etc. So in Round 4 if people from Round 1-3 haven't used their immunity we could have up to 30% of total participants immune. That seems odd. To be honest, I'm not too keen on this immunity concept. Seems like it could get really messy...

Question: Are we supposed to be playing for the month or the season? In other words, will there be a cut the end of Feb, end of march, etc.

I ask, because what happens if your round 2 picks are all in march? How does that work? Help. Please. thank you.

Lovely: You play for the season. The first cuts will be made at the end of march for season 1 only. It has no effect on your season 2 slate unless you are eliminated, which would then disqualify your slate. Basically, treat the super leagues as no different than any other league, they really act the same.

Anny: I highly doubt that it will happen. I mean, if all of those participants are good enough to earn an im, which lets face it, there would only be a handful of them given out anyway, then I dont think we have to worry about all of them suddenly tanking. Don't worry about the format, it will all play out the way it should. Or at least I think it will. Have a little faith in Shryke.

Well I'm doing a lot better than I figured I would do getting into this.
Thats some pretty good stuff Shryke. You a spread sheet wiz? I'm taking advanced Spreadsheets next semester. But I'm to lazy to put that much effort into something such as this.

I am a spaz and in one of the Jan leagues (yes the big one even) I still have no movies opened yet... the big 0 on that one just about scared me to death. I dunno what I was smoking the day I set up that studio.

Yes, I suppose that would be the worst-case scenario... but I doubt it will come to that. People at the top tend to stay at the top.

It would be amusing if the bottom 10% of a particular round ended up being entrants who ALL had a viable IM, which would result in NO ONE being eliminated that round. But that's how I set up the rules, and I will stick to that.

As an example, there are 94 people in the FY Ultimate tournament, which means no more than nine people will be cut in any one round. If there were no IMs, that would mean that by the time we got down to the final month of our final round, only a handful of people would be eligible. With the IMs at play, however, I'm thinking that the final number of players that will be eligible to win the whole thing will be somewhere between 20-30, which is just about how I wanted it.

I wanted there to be some kind of reward to finishing in the Top 5%, which, let's face it, is no mean feat in a league of nearly 100 people. Since we're not playing for money, it was the only thing that I could think of that might be worth something. If this tournament goes to the end of the year and ends up being successful enough to spawn similar tournaments in 2009, I'm sure there will be plenty of tweaks along the way. This is, after all, a work in progress.

cRAzY: No, I'm not a spreadsheet "wiz", so to speak. I just use Excel a lot, and have for the better part of two decades (I had Lotus 123 at the beginning, which was not dissimilar in its function or appearance).
I'm glad that you all like the look of the sheets... I experiment with different looks, to make it look as streamlined and cool as possible. It may continue to change and evolve over the course of the year. "That much effort"? Boy, you have no idea. Hell, I had no idea the amount of work I'd be taking on when I cooked this thing up. The amount of man-hours that I've already spent, if I were to total it all up, involving the sending and re-sending of e-mails, creating the leagues, moderating the leagues, checking on everyone's rosters, and keeping the spreadsheets up-to-date would probably blow your mind.

I don't think I've ever worked this hard on something that I probably won't ever see a dime for doing! I mean, labors of love are great, but that's totally at odds with the capitalist in me!!

I guess I hope that if this thing grows into something truly awesome, I'll be rewarded Earl-style in some way, mode or fashion, somewhere (possibly waaaaaay) down the line. But in the meantime, I'm more than happy to keep on chuggin'. You guys, all of you, are SO worth it!

Peace.
