This may just be the most insanely awesome idea ever.

From IMDb:

How Will They Produce the Oscars?
Speculation continued to mount in Hollywood Wednesday about how the Oscars might be produced if the writers' strike is not settled by February 4. "We are going to do it," producer Gil Cates told the Associated Press Tuesday. "I can't elaborate on how we're going to do it, because I don't want anybody to deal with the elaboration in a way that might impact its success." Some speculated that the ceremonies could be produced in animation (writers of animated programs are not covered by the WGA contract). Others, that it could be produced by David Letterman's Worldwide Pants, which has signed an interim agreement with the WGA. And Britain's Guardian newspaper proposed a "Team America Oscars" in which puppets, like those used in Matt Stone and Trey Parker's Team America: World Police, would stand in for the stars. "At least an hour could be devoted to recreating the sex scenes between Tony Leung and Wei Tang in Lust, Caution," the newspaper said.

Well. I don't know about that last sentence, folks, but Team Oscars: World Awards sounds pretty friggin' cool to me.

How 'bout you?

I remain, as always...

Sounds good to me...

Maybe at one point near the end there would be this Great Dane that runs through wrecking everything, and one of the puppets goes, "Oh no its Roverfield"

I'm dying at the possibility of the usually stuffy Oscar ceremony being presented in 100% animation. The only reason I watch the Globes is that they're usually pretty funny and loose,as compared to their older virgin sister - The Oscars.

The puppet thing would be too cheesy, and I believe everyone should be yellow like The Simpsons.

I just wish the dumb writer's strike would be over already. What's the holdup!! I really don't think it's fair that the ceremony should be affected by the writer's strike. It's like if they cancelled your graduation ceremony because the teachers are on strike and just sent you your diploma in the mail. Or they didn't have the sports banquet because the coaches are on strike. Big babies.

I hope they do like the Globes and have a Press Conference. I'm not really a fan of award shows unless I'm involved.

P.S. - J.I. I think you just need to go back and edit your post and uncheck that box to enable HTML.

The Golden Globes Awards Announcement is being hosted by Nancy O'Dell and Billy Bush, from what I gather.

I saw a little bit of the People's Choice Awards show thing that was on. It had Queen Latifah in a room with screens and people who won with their taped acception speeches. It was interesting, but I felt uncomfortable.
