You gave it an 8/10 and now imagine that you are a super comic geek from the time you could read and that Batman is one of your favorite characters and you can imagine why I came 3 times during the movie.

Wow rough review of Babylon A.D. there mon frere (is that the correct spelling?). Maybe Mathieu should stick to acting and directing french films.... LOL

Don,
That's why I need to see TDK a second time, because I was so absorbed by all the density, and the ramifications of the script, of the characters interactions, of the strong political discourse, that I couldn't really take time to purely enjoy it too. Maybe I won't have time to do it on the second vision too, because obvisouly there is still so much to digest from it, but I'll see.
And I really want to see Ledger's Joker again.

Now concerning Babylon AD, mon frère (good spelling, just lacks the French accent), well you mentioned your comic book "geekness" to understand how you could be so turned on by TDK. Well, I'm a big litterature reader myself, and "Babylon Babies", the French book Kasso's film is based on, is like in my pantheon of genre books, a punk, sci-fi, apocalyptic, geopolitical thrilling ride of 600 pages that casted a spell on me when I read it when I was 20.
So that's why you see me being so rough with Kasso's total waste of a film. It does not go anywhere good.

Tropic Thunder 8/10

Really Funny. The cast was great i really liked it but it is tad bit overated and its not the funniest movie of the year.

You don't mess with the Zohan : 6.5/10
I'm usually not a biiiiiiig fan of Sandler's comedies (except the excellent 50 First Dates), but The Zohan made me laugh big time I must say. Heavily vulgar, heavily funny.

In the last couple days I saw:

Hamlet 2 - 7.5/10...like a funny satire of Dangerous Minds, mixed with actual artistry and humor...will prob get more funny in time...

Traitor - 6/10...maybe I was just expecting something different, but for some reason did not live up to what it could've been...the tedious back and forth between Cheadle and Pearce in the first half really annoyed me...good moral though

Eulogy - 7/10...got from Netflix...Zooey Deschanal is good (and damn hot!), as is Hank Azaria and others...overall worth viewing

Traitor ***/****

Entertaining thriller with great use of settings. It would be interesting to see Steve Martin get involved with more serious projects.

I attempted to watch 'Babylon AD' last night. There are very few movies I haven't finished watching and even fewer theatrically that I've fallen asleep in (only two) or walked out of (this makes three). 'Babylon AD' accomplished both of those things last night. Was the problem the viewer or the movie? Hard to say -- I'd been on a big road trip and was trying to unwind before the final stretch. Mission accomplished. 'Babylon AD' had serious problems though. You can probably guess where the full review is going to be. *nudge nudge*

You stopped to catch a movie during a road trip? I've never even thought of that.

We always used to go to the theater/IMAX in Opry Mills Mall in Nashville when we went through there. It's a nicer theater than we have around where I live... Plus they have a candy combo and alls we have is a popcorn combo.

Its a good idea really, its just not something that crosses your mind (unless you are an addict) in conjunction with road tripping. I'm considering a roadtrip to somewhere east later this year, maybe I'll have to look up one of the unique theatres where you get actual food, or comfortable seating and stop in.
