An Evening with Kevin Smith - 9/10. I know he tends to illicit some strong reactions either to positive or to negative, but I just freakin love Kevin Smith, and this is just like chillin with the man for 3 hours. Great Stuff.

I liked the 2nd one better. There's a 3rd one coming out in October.

Tropic Thunder - 7.8/10

RDJ's performance was a good as the hype, he is fast becoming one of my favorite actors. But I will say Tom C rocked this. I laughed so hard at his part that I teared up a little. Very funny film, but to be honest i liked PE better.

After hearing so much about both comedies, i have to say both were good but not great. I had very high expectaions for Tropic Thunder and i guess it didn't really disappoint just a pity it wasn't better, 8/10 from me while i just watched The Pineapple Express last night and was actually impressed, going in with lower expectations this one pleased me more than TT did, i must commend Rogen on making a comedy so good for a budget thats not even a quarter of Stiller's budget for TT. 8/10 for tPE aswell......nah actually 8.0 for TT and 7.9 for tPE

How did the House Bunny beat Death Race? Was there some special sporting event on the weekend in the US or something?

The ladies, tired of seeing Mamma Mia! for the seventh time, swarmed at the opportunity of a new movie aimed just for them (because The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants 2 is basically kids' stuff) and took Death Race's potential viewers as their dates.

Meanwhile:

Wall-E (second time) still ****/****

They also showed the exclusive Pink Panther 2 Wall-E trailer where Steve Martin is trying to get into a sold-out showing of Wall-E and ends up sneaking in by opening up the screen.

The Longshots **.5/****

Actually a watchable directorial debut for Fred Durst. More of a drama about a team boosting morale for a dying Illinois town rather than the comedy promoted in the trailers, it is well-shot (by the son of the late Conrad L. Hall) and has good lead performances by Cube and Palmer as the ex-football star and his niece who becomes the quarterback of the struggling Pop Warner team.

That trailer isn't exactly exclusive, they have a Kung Fu Panda version as well as a non-named movie one that has been attached to Kitt Kittredge and Space Chimps.

Babylon A.D. - 3/10

This movie is so confusing and retarded, it astounds me. Almost nothing makes sense, they never even explain half of the things that would warant quite the explanation. And the chick that Vin Diesel is transporting is ugly and annoying as fuck.

I think the random action scenes that, presumably, Fox insisted on actually helped the movie.

I never saw the Kung Fu Panda version but I did see the unnamed movie version with Kit Kittredge.

Disaster Movie - 1/10

It makes my head hurt. They had Amy Winehouse burping for like 2 minutes straight. Comedy gold.

Those guys should either drop dead or quit while they're ahead. But then again, that might encourage them to do something even dumber like marry Paris Hilton or write for Perez Hilton.

OKay, here's completing with the summer blockbusters:

The Mummy 3 : 5/10 (a fun saturday night no brainer, enjoyable and forgotten as quickly as I saw it)
Babylon AD : 2/10 (a big bad waste of what should have been a masterpiece)

And finally... The Dark Knight !!!! Yes, I finally saw it, and plans on seeing it a second time to refine my judgement...

But right now, I'll give it an 8/10
It is remarkable for sure, filmed with maestria by Nolan, and very rich in its intrigues. Even too much to fully appreciate all its ramifications with only one vision. Really fascinating.
It still is a bit too long, and HArvey Dent's character deserved a better treatment in the final act of the film.

It still is the best and most intelligent film Hollywood has produced these past few months.

You gave it an 8/10 and now imagine that you are a super comic geek from the time you could read and that Batman is one of your favorite characters and you can imagine why I came 3 times during the movie.

Wow rough review of Babylon A.D. there mon frere (is that the correct spelling?). Maybe Mathieu should stick to acting and directing french films.... LOL

I didn't realize what this thread was for, so I'll give you my ratings on what I saw this summer.

Kung Fu Panda=7 (Beginning and end of the movie redeem the middle)
The Happening=7 (sue me, I like M. Night usually)
Wall-E=9 (x2 because my in-law and parents couldn't figure out a time to take my daughter that was the same)
TDK=8 (Very much overhyped is probably why it didn't get a 9)
