I don't know. 30 days and 30 nights came pretty close there at the end. it had to be at least a hundred. Grant it they weren't attatched to bodies. But boobies are still boobies.

Funny thing is, I'm a bit of a Frank Miller fan as well. I LOVED Sin City, am eagerly anticipating Sin City 2, and would go close to calling Sin City a masterpiece (not really, but you get the point). So after that, you can say I was a little disappointed with 300, as IMO it didn't live up to Sin City as a legitimate film to be taken seriously by anyone that isn't a fanboy.

I suppose transformers2 also mentions that 'Transformers' is a masterpiece many, many times as well. Ironically, even though 300 and Transformers offered the same sort of thing, I am more impartial to the mind-numbing action of Transformers. It is Michael Bay after all, what else should I have expected? Masterpiece it is not, though...

I don't know if I would go as far as to call them mind-numbing, but I do agree with you. The thing I really loved about both of those movies is the special effects and the cinematography...AMAZING. But neither movie had much depth to it, it was mostly about the action/entertainment value. While I consider both to be excellent movies in and of its own, they are by no means oscar worthy...well except maybe the cinematography and special effects but...you get the point

The reason 300 does hold up well on second viewing is because you really can't enjoy the film. It takes itself way too seriously.

And when you're in a cartoon setting, a stylized world, with crap acting and atrocious dialogue, it doesn't help the film when trying to get the audience to sympathise with the 300 Spartans.

All you can do is 'not care', but then that's not much fun, as there's not much fun to be had.

We will just have to agree to disagree on that one. It's really a matter of taste and what you enjoy seeing in a movie.

I woulda made the presumption (geez, this is dangerous) that becs or lilylovelost are of the female variety...

becs perhaps being short for Rebecca/Bec

lilylovelost being, well lily...

We can't have such a testosterone imbalance here, it's unhealthy. Besides, who else will back me up when I say 300 is over-rated plot-less rubbish...

[Y]ou non danglers are really starting to sound like my manager. Previewing that movie with her was horrible. All she talked about for a frickin month was how great the 300 guys looked with their "abs". Very annoying.

[Snort] Just wait'll you get married to someone who wishes Brad Pitt was her very own personal breakfast tray, or cheese plate, or loofah.

I remain, as always...

Hehe, I guess I opened a can of worms with 300, didn't I? Oh well, I guess we can agree to disagree. From my POV, here's hoping Beowulf isn't 300 Mark 2...
