Maybe this has already been suggested but I'm going to throw it out there anyway. If they could add in an option for private league commissioners to adjust the salary cap, it would allow for more flexibility for the studios. The prices of the movies could remain the same but commissioners could raise the cap to play an "easier league" and even lower the cap for a league full of veterans to add more challenge. Furthermore, if commissioners could remove the cap altogether they could alteast form their own draft leagues. Granted, this would require a lot more work from the commish but would at least allow them to play their favorite type of game. Just something to think about. I don't know a lot about code, but it would seem to the untrained person that it would be much easier to add the ability to change the salary cap than it would be to add a whole draft engine... just a thought...

I suggested something like this in the forum right after FM made the changes to the game. I too imagine that it would be relatively easy to code an option for changing a league's salary cap into the game, certainly easier than writing code for a totally separate drafting game. Consequently I was left a little confused by the lack of response to the suggestion. No one ever said it couldn't be done, or that it was more work than I realized. They just ignored the idea.

So maybe it is more trouble than we imagine, or maybe FM really doesn't want to add a drafting option back into their game. I stipulate this because, after all the debate about which method is better, FM still has not explicitly stated that they will be bringing the draft back.

"Oh, it's possible that you might expand the game to include drafting if you are able to make the site able to turn a financial profit? Really? Well, let's all hold our breath then."

Whether reluctant or just short of man-power, time, and money, or both, I'm done waiting around for a change anytime soon.

So I should give you credit for the idea, I probably saw it and it sat in my subconcious.

Nah, no credit is necessary. It's seems like a fairly simple and logical idea to me. I imagine a lot of people who would prefer the draft over the salary cap had the same thought.

Alright it is a official. As of the Holiday Season 2007-2008 the Hollywood Heartland League will be moved offline due to the lack of a draft. I was unable to keep my friends interested in the league without the direct and exclusive ownership that a draft provides.

I will try to catch on in the regulars league but I just wanted to make the powers that be aware of the loss of my gamers and countless others that have moved their game offline.

Thank you for getting us interested. Hopefully you can include us in your community in the future. Take care.

Helfy.....we've done the same thing! We held a draft and the only thing we've added to our scoring is including the O/U as another category. I too want to thank the owners here for creating a fun "fantasy" game, which my family is enjoying. Too bad they dumbed it down, imho, which has resulted in us leaving as well. Cya at the movies.
