I wouldn't say that Kit Kittredge is a bomb just from two weekdays of wide release. That's like calling The Spiderwick Chronicles a bomb from its opening day (it opened on a Thursday if you remember).

Considering Kitt is projected/expected to only make 12-15 mil in total, and it made (allegedly anyway) just over 1mil on its (wide) opening day, a weekday no less, hardly makes it seem a bomb.
What I'm dying to hear are the numbers for The Wackness, it looks like it opened in 4 theaters on 7/3, but no one seems to have any info on how it did

It opened in 6, 3 in LA and 3 in NY, I've been searching around for estimates as well. If I get any info I'll post it here.

Wackness should do well. 6 theaters and only facing Hancock = PTA. LOL
Next week will be a bit different and the week after will be all TDK.

I would've thought The Wackness would open limited in NYC only. Since the city seems to be a pretty big part of the movie.
Hopefully it'll pull Mongol-type PTA numbers.

I wasn't sure either but checked BOM and they have 6, so going with that. Friday numbers are up, still no Wackness PTA preview. Think we might have to wait til Sunday.

3.5mill from almost 1800 theaters and a pta under $2,000 is definatley not what they were hoping for. In fact it only made 5.5mill for the 5 day and thats a 5 day pta of $3,184 (less than sex and the city). Look for it to make a quick exit as they make room for The Dark Knight. A finish of 10-12mill seems likley.
btw Steve Mason just called it "a full-on disaster" in his wkend update

Yep, it's a BOMB! it only made 10 PTA and a half mil pre wide release along w/ a rating that won't hurt or help your slate. DAMN I can't believe I blew $4 on that! Oh, my other league, a Box Office League I can't believe I blew $2 on that! Gosh darn it. I'll take $6 million/fantasy dollar if that's bombing any day, which this will get.

For the amount of PTA you got with this movie, it's not a bomb. There are a heck of a lot worse movies you could've picked, that earned less PTA. It was only 2 bucks or 4 bucks!
And so far, 3.5 million, with half limited and half wide totals for 2 bucks is not bad. I think it can easily make another million or 2.

I don't think KK is a bomb by any stretch, especially considering how low its priced in most leagues. I mean 10 PTA, wow, I kicked myself for dropping it. Still no Wackness preview..

I'm pretty sure they were calling it a bomb from an actual film standpoint. Not an FM standpoint. Obviously worth it in terms of this game, but the movie business would have liked to see it bring in more BO dollars. Studio execs don't get paid for PTA points.
