hey people, just watched this movie for the first time ever....why do people say it bombed....i thought it was great....morgan freeman was pretty good, hartnett impressed, bruce willis maybe not, and lucy liu was convincing as the innocent, happy-go-lucky girl caught in the crossfire....

yet a few people have told me it bombed, just wondering if i read something wrong in the movie....

PS>> how great was the plot??!!

Well, I don't know if I'd call it a "bomb" as it's usually defined. However, it wasn't in theaters for very long, and it didn't do particularly well at the box office considering the stellar cast. Reviews were across the board, from excellent to mediocre.

That being said, this movie is one of my favorite movies of all time. It was my #1 film of 2006, and I think it's the best crime drama since The Usual Suspects. All the characters were well-acted, the dialogue was great if quirky, and Bruce Willis has never been quietly cooler.

The plot was great. There were one or two parts that were a bit far-fetched, but I am more than happy to overlook them. I would recommend this movie to ANYONE.

Good choice, ashkul.

i disagree about bruce willis shryke, but i'll go into that some other time....my question is if this movie is talked about in such stellar phrases, WHAT HAPPENED??!! how come it was never a success, how come no awards (when did it release?) and how come it hasn't gone down as one of the greats??

The title has put me off watching it--it's corny, but maybe I'll give it a go. Looks interesting.

Ironic you make that comparison, every time I recommended this movie to a friend last year I dubbed it "a modern Usual Suspects", it has that feel good, quirky, crime-comedy style. This movie completely changed my opinion of Josh Hartnett (i thought he was mediocre at best prior to this role).
The movie takes its time building the story then BAM at the end it all comes together, very like Usual Suspects...

also, gotta love the 70's wallpaper everywhere!

I hated Pearl Harbor, as far as I'm concerned it was Armageddon #2... pretty much, the only part i liked was when the planes flew up and started bombing, which was visually amazing.

Armageddon is an incredible film of epic and emotional proportions.

Sorry Michael Bay, but Pearl Harbour is a pile of utter shit.

Agreed. Never even watched the whole movie. I think everyone already knew how it was gonna end anyways.
Lucky Number Slevin was great though. Great actors, Great Storyline, Good Twist, all good elements for a good movie thats destined to be overlooked by big time blockbusters that aren't even worth mentioning in a movie discussion forum.
