Looking at other films where Billy Bob Thorton plays a sadistic character (Bad Santa, Bad News Bears, etc) should give you a pretty good idea of where 'Mr. Woodcock's' future lies. 'Balls of Fury' has a strong supporting cast led by the always entertaining Christopher Walken but lacks a familiar or as yet marketable star. Time, however, is on the side of 'Balls of Fury.' Assuming PTA and iMDB potential are probably too close to call and that the difference is negligible anyway, I lean towards 'Balls of Fury.' The extra time is the deciding factor.

mr. woodcock will take home the gold in this two team tournament. mr. woodcock has so many more familiar actors/actresses and balls of fury has about 1. balls of fury has bomb written all over its forehead but i'll be seeing it anyway. they're both great movies but woodcock wins!

Billy Bob Thornton is a legend.
Did you see him inside Halle Berry in Monster's Ball?

I think there's a reason both movies were dumped from late April (when they'd easily get bludgeoned by Spider-Man 3) to the wasteland that is September (okay, so Balls of Fury actually comes out Aug. 29th.)
I'd probably give the edge to Balls of Fury, if for no other reason than Rogue Pictures is doing their best to get trailers on virtually every new release, in order to make sure awareness goes up. If you go see a PG-13 movie, there's a good chance you'll see the Balls of Fury trailer. (Maybe that's just in my area of the country, but at my 6-screen theater, the Balls of Fury trailer plays before 5 of the movies.) I think overall awareness is higher for Balls of Fury, and that should translate to better performance.

They also both have two balls on the teaser posters
Both movies have good ideas. I like balls of fury more though. The concept of a comedy about underground ping pong championships makes me laugh anyways. Mr. Woodcock has much funnier actors in it. And I would probably go see this one because I know I wouldn't be disappointed. But balls of fury has all the right elements to be a stupid comedy classic.
