Well, I'm sick of getting a film, only to find a few months later a more elaborate Ultimate Edition (like The Terminator or Raging Bull). And some are just over-the top, like 10 discs for an over-rated Matrix trilogy? So, which one do you think is the biggest waste of plastic?

I don't see how you can include the unreleased 5-disic "Bladerunner" 6-double 9er.It's sight unseen so really shouldn't be in the list yet.
My pick was for "Terminator" the big funny that sticks in my mind is Ar-no-ld commentary on T-III.'This is where you see my naked butt! For the first time since T-I so I really had to workout for this one'More over the bonuses just take itself way to seriously on the whole franchise. Not that I'm not a fan loved T-I & T-II but T-III was an abortion or maybe should of been.

You've got quite a few Ridley Scott related films in there. The man is a special edition monster!

I count the 9 disc 'Alien Quadrilogy' as one of my favourite dvd purchases. It illustrates everything right to do in putting together a comprehensive collection. I enjoyed the four disc 'Kingdom of Heaven' as well although they probably should have included both versions of the film on it -- theatrical and Ridley Scott's preferred cut. Otter is right to say we shouldn't pre-judge the 5 disc 'Bladerunner' but I've got to be honest: I am. I have little to no desire to ever watch any of it. My old single disc is good enough.

Well, I've seen the specs of tghe 5 disc Blade Runner edition. It actually looks quite good, although the 5th disc "workprint" edition seems a little excessive. That hasn't stopped me in ordering it though. It's one of the greatest sci-fi films ever.

I like the Alien Quadrology box set, except for Disc 9, which I haven't touched and never well. Same goes for the "extras" of the 4th film.

I voted for the Matrix. An utterly overrated trilogy.

Terminator 3 was actually much better than I had expected. Nowhere near as good as Cameron's films, but it had a nicely bitter ending.

There IS no fourth 'Alien' film. Whatever could you be talking about Numbersix? The series ended with the "director's" cut of 'Alien 3.' Any subsequent film is part of a mass delusion, and such alleged film's dvd would make a fine coaster for my coffee mug.

There is absolutely no need for a 10 disc Matrix boxset

3 movies, one good, one OK, and one horrible, and a subpar collection of cartoons related to them deserves 10 discs?!!??! Christ almighty, you'd be hard-pressed to find any non DVD-reviewer who's actually watched an entire 10 disc Matrix box set

If this case doesn't make you salivate, I don't know what does.

And the Terminator trilogy is not actually a special edition collection.

It's just the three 2-disc versions of the movies packaged together.

... that would compliment my 'Scarface' suitcase edition.

You people are nagging on the matrix for having ten discs. Agreed. Who the hell really wants to sit down and watch seven discs worth of crap for three movies. Don't get me wrong. I love the frickin matrix. Brilliant Movies. Great Special effects. Action, Adventure, Romance, Drama, Death, Crazy many tentacled machines whos only purpose is to rip humans limb from limb. Its just amazing. But ten discs is just a blessing to a person who is very pale and has absolutely no life. Mr. 30 year old living in your mothers basement surviving off hot pockets and free internet porn. I pity you because you are definately the only target audience for this collection.
In fact I pity you almost as much as the freak who would buy a twelve disc set for a trilogy that consisted of an accumulated five hours of walking.(estimate) Very sad. If I think ten discs for a trilogy I do extremely like is retarted. Guess what I'm thinking about the trilogy I don't like. Whats on those discs. How to walk with a stick, 25 pounds of fake hair, and goofy ace looking clothes. They might have one discs showing how they did battle sequences. Yeah!(sarcasm)
To top it off. I wanted to choose LOTR. But I can actually seeing lame hippies buying this.
What I can't see is retards buying a three disc Panic Room set. WTF. Seriously. I liked the movie. But theres no way in a frozen over hell I would buy a three disc set for it. What is wrong with this world today.
Other ones I think they shouldn't have done. King Kong(long enough), Black hawk down, Kingdom of heaven, and shawshank. the others I would either buy if I had the money. Gladiator. Or haven't seen.

The same with that Memento 3-disc edition. I find that puzzling.

I have the 3-disc Memento, as it was part of a 3 for 30 deal, but I've yet to watch the extras. Probably never weill.

At least the LOTR box set has half of its disc comprising of the actual movie, unlike the Matrix, where less than a third of of the set is actual movie. How excessive can you get?

I will say the Matrix has much better graphics. I would much rather waste precious moments of my life showing how they made all the machines and the fight sequences. Which by the way are pretty cool. The way they did the last fight scene in revolutions was just awesome. They were pretty much flying. Suspended in mid-air fighting is almost just as close.
Anyways. That would be much better than watching hours of "okay, this is how we walked through this set" "Over here is where one of the stars twisted his ankle walking." "Walking is dangerous and hard work but they have stunt doubles so our preciouses don't hurt themselves"
