Sounds like Deathproof but with less action and much less hotter chicks.

Anyways. I picked Iron Man. Pretty sure I'm wrong. Being the "Christian Based" family film it is. It will make an S load of money.

But Iron Man in my opinion will be the best movie of the summer. possibly the year. It's gonna kick so much a$$ Robert Downey will make enough money to buy his own drug warehouses and pay off all the cops in his area of leisure. Probably not. but it'll come close.

As for being as busy as last year. I doubt it. I work at a small four screen in a small crappy town. By the time we got Pirates. We were selling out on both prints of that. Shrek. And spiderman. All four screens selling out with the worst movie schedule known to man. That mixed with retarted workers. My first summer to work my own shifts. and being short staffed. The day we get busier than that is the day I quit. I love my job but Late May of 07 was hell in our theater. And there's no way all of those movies are gonna gross over 300 mil each.

4 screens? Is that even profitable? I didn't know they built theaters that small (no offense). I do projection at a 30 screen theater but I'd gladly trade to do projection on 4 screens. That has to be the greatest job in the world.

I love the job. Its pretty profitable considering how old our stuff is and how crappily we get paid. But to work at a small theater like ours. You have to live in a crappy town like ours. And trust me. You don't want to do that. The one good thing about a four screen. You get to know everybody there alot better. Get promoted faster. Depending on how good you are. And your training isn't rushed. But you still get it done alot faster.
I know of people that work at our 20 and 24 screens in dallas that are 30 years old and still just ushers. They probably get paid more than me. But when I get promoted again and move to a bigger theater or possibly the corporate office. I'll be making much much more money. With lots more benefits. So the crappy lifestyle now pays off in the end. Hopefully soon.

p.s. Our chain has a 3 screen out in Calif. somewhere. Auditors and booth techs are very interesting people to talk to. Very knowledgeable.

?????????????????????????????????

I think that the studio is very confident in moving the movie up to take on what is potentially one of the biggest movies of the year. it is also getting a 2 week jump on Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Sex and the City.

I love May movies in drive in theatres. Maybe my job will be nice and it can become a reality.

1. At face value, Iron Man looks like the safest bet. A fairly recognizable action hero, a solid cast, and a potentially interesting movie to look at. I would say the things that will hold it back will be the quality of the special effects and how serious of a tone the story will take. If the effects are weak or the the story gets too dark (Stark's alcoholism a primary theme), it won't do as well as people predict.

2. I can't see how Narnia will do poorly. But I think it is being released at the wrong time (I would have chosen late July or around Thanksgiving) and I wonder if the mass audience may be getting restless with the whole fantasy genre in general (excluding Harry Potter, which is an entirely different beast as far as fan base). I think you can count a a strong showing from the Christian and fantasy base, but one of these fantasy genre films is due to implode- soon.

3. I think Speed racer is the dark horse of the whole conversation. There is no logical reason for me to even think this movie could go huge. I guess if I had to pin any logic onto the statement it would be that there is a huge NASCAR audience that would come to a well done racing movie; it has a small but stable fan basic; the source material is fun, basic and easy to like; and the directors are hard to pick against even counting the last 2/3s of the Matrix Trillogy.

4. I do not get the Sex and City draw. I think it must be an all east coast/ west coast thing, because a lot of the midwesterners I know never really even had the desire to watch the show. But there isno way that it won't make a lot of money merely because of the cost to make it will be minimal compared to the films around it.

-as much as I dislike the South Park creators, I think I would pay to watch them direct a Wonder Twins (from the Superfriend) movie.

Watch the Iron Man trailer, Almost all of the effects work is old-school practical stuff not George Lucas-style green screen shit.

Also, Jon Favreau has stated in interviews that the only time the audience will be really seeing full CGI creations is when Iron Man is in mid-flight flying around and crap.

It will turn out great, plus the effects are being handled by ILM, bad effects are the last thing you need to worry about.

?????

Did I just read this right? If so, you need to justify this immediately or risk having an exploding turkey sent to your doorstep.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker are champions of the human race. For proof, watch the Imaginationland trilogy.

speed racer never really picked up a huge following like many other comics/cartoons did....so i really don't see this one doing well at all....plus, i think audiences are starting to suffer from 'Marvel adaptation' fatigue....well, i hope they are, coz these people keep churning out some of the worst rubbish in the world and their movies make close to a billion!!!! honestly, at this point all i can say is WTF(ing)F??!!

Agreed. Speed Racer is the one I most want to perform well, but realistically, that is not even a question at this point - even with emile hirsch. I am all out on Indy winning this race.

X-Men 1 and 2 and Spider-Man 1 and 2 aren't rubbish.

I think you are merely referring to the dreadity that is Fantastic Four 1 and 2.

I know Shryke loves them, but you don't know what I know. Shryke is actually an alien who worships Lord Xenu. Shryke has dreadlocks.

I must not have defended fantastic four enough in these forums. Great movies. There. Change any minds yet.

As for South park geniuses Parker and Stone. They could very well have the best funny bones in the world. Probably the funniest guys still alive today. Geniuses. The guitar hero episode. Awesome. I love guitar hero and still laughed my a$$ off watching that episode.

Anyways. as for tuan. Lucas style green screen shit is not always bad. I think i've already disclosed my liking for Star Wars in another forum.
