Yeah, Final Fantasy 8, good call. It could make a great movies/trilogy.

My favourite bit in Max Payne is when he's drugged and realises he's in a computer game.
They're developing a Payne movie at the moment. I think it's a bit obvious, and unless they incorporate those freaky dream sequences, it will be pretty dull

It's been quite a while since they announced it, and yet no teaser or a trailer.

You're right ! Those scenes were funny. "Max,you're in a computer game". I don't know about developing a movie, but i hope they will.

Halo - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464037/
God of War would be cool, but I'm wondering if it would appeal to those that haven't played the game. Greek/Roman mythos haven't always fared very well in films. 300 had style and a link to Sin City going for it. GoW has that style, but not enough people know about it. Being PS only doesn't help the audience any, but then Halo is XB only and it has a big enough audience. I could see the Rock playing Kratos. I actually liked Scorpion King. Now that I think about it again, if they could get it out in two years, with the Rock in the lead roll, they would be able to pull in people who loved 300 and want a continued exposure to sim cinema. It could happen.
Starcraft would be a good bet that was mentioned. It's a national pasttime in South Korea. I could see it being a Korean or Japanese film on par with something like Returner. I know there is at least one S. Korean studio putting out good films right now. The problem is that it would be a really complex storyline for those not familiar with the game. You would almost have to leave the Protoss out of it until the end to set up a sequel. A Kerrigan storyline would be more of a sequel too, since the public would have to get to know the Zerg first. Then the problem would be comparisons to Starship Troopers. So you sort of have to have the Protoss in it from the start. As a fan of the game, I think that the movie would be awesome, but it will be hard to get anyone other than maybe Uwe Boll to do the film since the profit margin potential may be low due to comparisons to other films and the difficulty of fitting the intricasies of 3 races into a well written story are difficult. The wars and all would be great, but that is only enough to carry a film so far, and the cost of making it would require more than that to pull a profit.
Final Fantasy has already tried several film adaptations, some straight to video. They haven't really tried a live action film though. That might work. I loved Spirits Within, even if many others didn't.
Movies like Half-Life may not get made for a while. Even though the differences are obvious to those in the know, it would still get comparisons to Resident Evil, and it doesn't have the player size of something like Halo.
World of Warcraft - Even though there really isn't a story line and the movies would be nothing better than a D&D fair, there is a big enough built in audience, that the fanboys alone would allow this to pull a profit. If they don't go too overboard, they can make it as cheap as a D&D movie and be guaranteed a profit, but then the sequel audience would disappear. If they spent good money on it, they might be able to pull in new audiences.
Any GRAW, Rainbow 6, etc. game - Since his games are already similar to many spy or war films, and they have built in storylines, any of these could be made into a movie. There are other contenders out there for similar films too, like Metal Gear Solid.
That's all I can think of right now. I know that if I had the money, I would put it into a God of War or Starcraft movie, especially with a new Starcraft coming. A movie tie-in there would help.

The Rock doesn't yell scream and get completely pissed off enough to be The Almighty Kratos. Those aside though he would be pretty good. Rocks to calm though. I wouldn't say that god of war isn't very well known. As I've said. It didn't win game of the year for nothing.
I don't really care how many people like it either way. It doesn't have to be a blockbuster. but with a big enough budget, super kick ass graphics, and some wicked awesome casting. The previews would be just enough to let people know that its the all time best action movie.

I think Halo is the only movie right now that has a chance at being a great movie because Sir Peter Jackson is behind it.

Actually, WOW is extremely plot-rich. There are dozens of books in the storyline you can pick up at any Borders/Barnes&Noble. And it is currently in the works, Vivendi confirmed as much at the same time they acknowledged the next Blizzard game would be a Starcraft follow up.

The Warcraft movie better have a good cast and a good director or else it will turn out like Bloodrayne or Eragon.

I bet warcraft will suck, it'll try to have a Lord of the Rings style plot, and fail miserably. But in terms of Box Office, it'll depend on cast and director

The storyline in WOW is alot more complex than the LOTR movies (though not the books), the only problem I forsee is getting a strong protaganist because there are many many factions all fighting eachother, and its really your own personal preference to decide who you are for and against.
Like I said... it has a very strong plot, interesting lore, etc. You can read Blizzard's basic history:
