FF2 sucked another pathetic attempt to make some money of some popular characters.
Better than the first, but not good enough to make a third one. Although, i believe FF3 had the green light at the same time with FF2, so expect some FF3 action in 2009 at the latest.
Meanwhile, i am planning to see Transformers Wednesday so i keep my hopes up.
Very interesting how Transformers will do in the next weeks. It certainly is a cool summer movie, at could go well, as the critics and audiences agree that you have to see it. So people will see it, but will they see it twice, or three times and so on...

tuan, my rating scale is a bit different than a lot of people's. If I walk out of the theater having enjoyed it, I will give it no worse than a 6. I really did enjoy Transformers a lot, and if it came across sounding like I gave it a marginal thumbs-up, then I didn't mean to. If you go back and read it again, the cons were minute compared to the pros. I will probably rent this movie when it comes out, but I probably won't buy it. So it's a 9.

FF2 and Ratatouille are both 10s, the only 10s I've given so far this year. A lot of people have ragged on FF2, and on the first FF movie for that matter, but (and I think I've mentioned this before) it gave me exactly what I want, and expect, from a comic book movie: campy but not overly so, cool effects, cool fight scenes, not weighed down with too many plotlines or heavy emotions (you hear me, Raimi?). They are the only two movies that have really made me want to see them again, soon.

Hello!

I gave it 8/10.
The movie is pretty awesome. And I'm saying this as a fan of the Generation 1 TV series.
Since most of the movie is awesome, the only thing I didn't like was...well...that "trendy humor talk". The "MTV talk", I hope you know what I mean.

Yes, digital still requires previewing, or "quality checks," if you will. We have to make sure the digital file isn't corrupted -- it's happened before with Screenvision ads, but never a film itself, thankfully. And we also check that the cues are in the correct place. The prints always come with a credits offset, but sometimes those are incorrect... Evan Almighty's was a good 20 seconds too early.

We try to watch them as soon as the keys are active, which is different in each case; we couldn't watch Transformers until 8 AM the Monday that there were 8 PM previews, but we were able to watch Potter yesterday night. Shryke, I think you may be disappointed when you see it...

Yeah, the early reviews have been a bit not-too-excited.

Well, it's got a 75% fresh rating on rotten tomatoes.

Anybody checked out the sequel coming out in 09. I hope they put more starscream in it than they did in the first. The first was effing awesome. But should've used more starscream. Thats just me though.

forgive me for stating the obvious, but the movie going audince is not only fickle but hypocritical also. One thread complains about movie sequel 'to infinity and beyond', stopping only after they have overextended the beyond recognition. And then suddenly a sequel is announced of a movie the movie person like and and we have instant amnesia. No wonder studios make sequel. No wonder studios through more and more money into effects and not into story building.

Because, despite all movie goers whining about story, a retread idea gets us excited. Because despite our whining about weak sequels, our summers are now filled with them.

And the moment a movie has a good opening weekend, the greenlights a sequel.

I apologize for the acidic post- it is not intended to do damage. I just confuses me when the movie culture gets upset with what it is constantly asking for.

Another review, from a guy who did not have Transformers when growing up... (me)

So, i just saw Transformers. I am not from US or from any other country that had the Transformers phenomenon. In fact, the only Transformers i know is an computer animated series set where transformers where animals that needed to rememeber how to transform. So it was just like any other action movie for me.

First of all: Too long. Transformers is a great piece of non-stop action, but that is really what it is. Non-stop action. I wanted more in the middle of all the explosions, slow-camera scenes and bullets. I wanted a scene where two people could chat, add something to their characters. There was none.
Second: Some scenes where just stupid. Not silly, plain stupid, and they did not belong in the movie. Period.
Third: Some characters... really... did the blond had to be a signal analist expert? I just graduated from an Engineering faculty and i reaaaally did not believe a word she said about signal analisys. Oh well...
My rating? 7.3 out of 10 (and that is mostly because Bay is the king of action)
I now think that it will not pass the 1B $ mark world-wide. At best it will come close, but not go pass it. This is not the movie to make more at the box-office than Titanic

And no, tuan, i am not part of the Michael Bay hating comitee. I really do like the guy. He can take anything and direct it to be an action movie, and that is really a talent only few people have.

I have finally managed to see Transformers and, like thoru, i am not from US and I didn't grow up with Transformers. I thought this was a good action movie filled with comedy scenes, some of them funny , others pretty stupid.
Some dialogues were pretty bad and unconvincing. As for the characters , they seemed fine to me. Although it has his flaws, I really enjoyed this movie . It is a nice summer movie and a "must see" for everyone.

My rating is 8/10.

Starscream did have a wicked bad fight scene. The reason he shot and flew off though is just how he is. Watch the show. Starscream is always looking out for number one. Which is why I think he's awesome. He saw the humans could fly too(in the movie) and that megatron was about to get his ass handed to him. So starscream did what he always does. Haul ass and retreat and wait for megatron to come back and chew his ace out for leaving.
