Y Tu Mama Tambien was basically two hours of men running around in the nude. It's the project Joel Schumacher wishes he could make. Hell, that was probably the original idea for Batman Forever and Batman and Robin.

You could say my hatred for Cuaron began when I saw a children's matinee of A Little Princess in the theatre when I was eight. I basically forgot who he was until I saw Y Tu Mama Tambien and the third Harry Potter when I was thirteen. Since then, I've never understood why people like the guy.

And Children Of Men was very overrated. I saw it with Luc Besson's Arthur and the Minimoys (Arthur and the Invisibles) and Besson's film was far and away better.

The Prisoner Of Azkaban was a great book...then bastardized by the film. They took all of the good parts out (such as the magic and the Qudditch scenes)! And I also hated the repositioning and deletion of the Fireball subplot. Alfonso Cuaron is like Joel Schumacher...except people actually kiss Cuaron's ass rather than kick it.

The Goblet Of Fire on the other hand was a bad book turned into a good film because they cut all the bad parts.

i never really read the entire third book so im oblivious to what they left out but i like what cuaron did with what he was working with. he was the first one to change the tempo of the films.....

well he did have that big budget increase

The thing I'll never understand is why J.K. Rowling went overboard with the series. The first two books were the right length but everything became overlong and boring towards four. After reading the fourth (which could have been cut down to 300 pages), I stopped reading them as I didn't want to go through 750+ pages of nothingness to get to the point.

Haha- I feel the exact opposite. I was really happy that they kept getting longer and was kind of disappointed with how short the last one was. I would have been happy for the series to continue on forever with books of 800+ pages.

And at the risk of sounding super girly - I am actually really excited for the Twilight film too.

I was excited for twilight as well... until I saw the trailer.
I generally don't like the actors they cast, the environment they shot in is nice enough but its not Forks (I actually grew up in the town they go to throughout the series for movies or shopping), and it just seems they are turning it into watered down teen love story. I literally went nights without sleeping to read this book series because it was so good I couldn't stop, the story transcends genre and age, and I don't believe there is any possible way with the combination mentioned above, they could do it justice.

I wouldn't worry yet. It's just a teaser and the distribution company is still getting the hang of things. A final trailer should be ready for Halloween and by December 12th things should be looking good for Summit Entertainment's first hit as a domestic distributor.

Also, Catherine Hardwicke is a reliable director and production designer* (the exception was Lords Of Dogtown where Stacy Peralta turned the interesting and entertaining real story into a film about himself and Tony Alva) so I respect her filmmaking decisions. But I don't read the books, I just want a vampire film.

My Top 11 Most Awaited Films In Late 2008:
1.The Poughkeepsie Tapes
2.Gran Torino
3.Miracle At St. Anna

*-to know what I'm talking about, rent Freaked. Had Fox not dumped the film, she may have gotten an Oscar nomination. Interestingly enough, Fox would distributed her directorial debut Thirteen ten years later.

Erm.. Woah.. I just noticed no one has mentioned Choke! CHOKE! add it.

Defiance looks great too. From the rumblings it seems that it may spell an Oscar nom for Daniel Craig.

Whoever picked Righteous Kill should know that deNiro has already come out and said the film is a stinker. And considering some of his films over the past few years, if he says it's bad, it must be really, really bad. Razzie bad.

I guess this would be a good place to post it but Zack and Miri Make a Porno is officially NC-17.
