This is going to be a tough one. I have a feeling Chuck and Larry will NOT meet expectations. Let's face it, the plot/storyline is silly (no changes for a Sandler movie there--I love Adam Sandler btw) and now there's this whole "controversy" in the gay community.

Hairspray seems more family/date night friendly, but, in general, men will opt for comedy over musicals so there is that...

I could be wrong. What do you think?

i feel ya. normally i can stomach some pretty juvenile sandler movies for the sake of watching a comedy when nothing else is out, but this one just seems completely thoughtless and offensive. hairspray has a nice cast, i guess. i dunno... id have to reluctantly lean towards hairspray by default

chuck and Larry will be beaten by Harry P this weekend. Chuck and Larry should pull in about 30mil, and won't break 100mil overall, not with the Simpsons coming out next week.

Hairspray.. well, I can't tell, my judgment is clouded by my hatred of musicals. I'd say about 20mil over the weekend, and about 60-70mil overall

I can't chime in on this poll, because there's no option for "neither one". Oh, I might eventually catch them on DVD, but as I said in my column, I'm not a fan of musicals, and I've heard enough bad things about Chuck & Larry to keep me away.

Don't know what I'm gonna do this weekend... I would love to see Talk to Me or Sunshine, but I don't think they're playing in my town yet. Maybe I'll just go see Ratatouille again, or perhaps Sicko.

I've seen 'Hairspray' and it is a wonderful and irreverent little film. Great fun and it had me laughing from start to finish. I think it has a lot against it though and the much more undeserving 'Chuck and Larry' will almost certainly wipe it out.

Pass on both of these films.I'ld rather trim my nose hairs and clean my ears till a good film comes along.

Both look very very good but these both seem like DVD movies to me.

Whoa Whoa Whoa. Who is saying bad things about Chuck and Larry. I heard hairspray was the retarted movie. Chuck and Larry kept me laughing all the way through it. Considering I had been at work since eight in the morning and we didn't start it til after one that night. I would say It was one hell of a movie. I don't know what it is with the sandler haters but this is old school comedy mixing it up with current events and it did one hell of a job. It made people laugh without pissing any certain "group" off. That should get an award just for that.
