Marketing Directors for Warner Bros. Studios say there is a chance that they may create an R-rated Harry Potter film. I can't wait to see that!!

I think that an R rating will be a better portrayal of the books.

I know, they said they are expecting to transfer to an R rating on either the 6th or 7th film...

On one hand, it seems like what they're doing is keeping the subject matter with the ages of the main characters, and in that sense it would seem that they should be verging on R rating for 6 and 7. However, I just can't see them risking the financial losses that would come with giving one of their movies the kiss of death that is the R rating. Ultimately, I think that it would be great if they made the movie R rated in order to accurately represent the lives of teenagers (because let's face it, teenagers are seeing, experiencingm and living through things that they are not allowed to see on screen), but I just don't think they're going to do it because money speaks louder than everything else.

i think it would be a terrible decision to go R because of profits but I'd love to see it.

I would be less concerned about Harry's rating and more concerned about the film teams ability to adapt a monstrously thick book.
The question people should be asking is can winnow a very large book into a two to two and a half hour movie? The books have been getting significantly bigger as the series progresses and will the film team able to extract the heart and plot out of the book without the movie looking a cliff notes event?
Also another thing to consider is the fans response to Harry after the last book is released. If the series ends in a lackluster fashion, the series itself could fracture the fan base and kill WB's cash cow.

I think that's taking it a little too far. Most of the Harry Pothead fans are only like young teens.

Tuan, true, that is a worst case scenario. The book length is still a major issue for the filmakers.
As for the audience base, many of the Potter fans who take their kids to the movies. So if the book do end in a way the paerents feel is 'inappropriate', the movie sales would be at risk.

The movie will end with a sex scene between Dumbledore, Professor McGonagal, and Hagrid.

Now, I'd definitely pay to see that.

Thats probably the most hideously disgusting thing i've ever heard. Other than a toddler joke one of my coworkers told me once. You don't wanna hear that though.
I think saying harrys fan base is mostly teens is going out on a limb. I've seen more adults wanna see this movie than i really expected. forty year old guys wanting to see harry potter on the big screen. Whats this world coming to. Not too mention some little twit sixteen year old kid whos interning for the town paper put some crappy article in the paper about how harrys books are making familys come closer together and its getting more and more people to read which is make the literacy rate go up. Maybe. But highly doubt harry potter is the reason for americas literacy rate to rise.dont we have public schools forcing kids to read and truency laws to thank for that.
