As I said in the "Fave 5" thread, crazy, I absolutely lurved it. There was just the right mixture of action, humor, camp, and soap opera to make it darn near perfect for me.
Spidey was always one of my favorite comic books to read because there was so much humor in it. He would always crack wise, even as he was fighting the bad guys. The movies, great as they were, succeeded in capturing the emotion (sometimes, overly so) of the stories, but not as much the humor. More often than not, we were laughing at Peter rather than with him.
But FF2 didn't make that mistake. The whole "wedding" thing was a little overplayed, but it never got to the point where it grated on me. I liked the fact that Ben had come to terms with his Thing-ness, and that a bond was even forming between him and Johnny.
Now, it's been many years since I've read an FF comic, and I don't remember much about the original Surfer/Galactus story line per se, and consequently, how faithful to the comic book's storyline the movie was, but even if it was a furious departure, I can still live with it.
The especially tender moment at the end (I won't spoil it) was very touching. I'm glad that they put it in, to add a little poignancy to the plot. But only a few minutes of that is all I require from a film such as this, not 2 1/2 hours of it. You hear me, Sam Raimi?!
I may be in the (vast) minority here, but I would much rather have three more of these movies than three more Spider-Man's. And as for a Surfer spin-off movie, well, it could definitely work, depending on the plot.

The way the whole wedding thing was played out surprised me a lot. (He Peter, Mr. Fantastic wins the girl contest. As indecisive as he may be, he holds on to the girl at the end.) It was nice to see a Hollywood movie actually be supportive of a man and a woman commiting their lives to each other despite the risks.
Tim Story is no cinematic genius- there are far more 'talented' directors out there. But every film of his that I have seen (I didn't see Taxi- I may be mascochistic but I'm that desparate for torture) I have liked and admire his abilty to make simple stock characters stand out like a person you could meet on the street. He also has a understated quality to films- most the time. Ultimately, the trip with the Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer was a sweet ride, a ride that is easy to repeat.

Please continue living your wonderful life without seeing this atrocious film. Jimmy Fallon is not funny.

Im very thankful that Fantastic four 2 didn't go over two hours. I like movies that are short, sweet, and to the fricking point. Most of the time. Some deserve the two hours or more. Not king kong. Way too dam long. I would like to see more of FF but not too much more. maybe a couple. Don't want to overdue like everything else. I also think a silver surfer movie could be Kick Frickin Ace if they had the right script actor and director. Guess we'll have to wait and see. I want to know why some did not like this movie. What was wrong with It. Opinions please.

I have not seen the film myself, but have read a couple of reviews on it and most point out that it's just kind of 'weak' but also the film is quite fun to watch. Good but not great.
Any superhero movie that can be as good as Spider-Man 2, I will watch that movie 5 times in cinemas!

I havent watched the film yet and was on the verge of going to see it last saturday.
Was sat in watching the culture show on bb2 in uk and this guy gave his opinion about the movie and more or less said its aimed at kids that are less than intelligent (Something to that effect).
At that point i chose not to see the movie. I thought the first film was bad and just boring (Other than Alba in her under crackers).
I am tempted to see it just for the Sivler Surfer and how they work Galactus into it. I have been watching the cartoons on tv to get up to speed of what Silver Surfer is all about. I might wait for this to come on DvD now.
However i am suprised its now at 6.7 IMDB rating when its being slated elsewhere.

I thought it was fine, but certainly not great. I know to follow the comics, these types of movies are SUPPOSED to be campy, but even so, it felt over-the-top. The Fantasticar thing was just stupid, even as minor as it was. But I'm sure they got mega-financing from Dodge to have Chris Evans say those lines.

That's a good idea because you get to see Jessica Alba in even higher definition.
And as long as FF2 is better than Ghost Rider, I'll be happy.

The fantasticar wasn't just made up. They took it out of the comics. Not really seeing how that could be lame.

Really? In the comics, Johnny Storm asked if the Fantasticar had a Hemi? The appearance of the car itself isn't what bothered me, just the shameless Dodge promotion that went with it. I know lots of movies have product placement, and sometimes they hit you over the head with it, but this one... well, it was a full-out bludgeoning.
Not to mention the Screenvision ads we had playing for like a month before the movie was released, advertising the Dodge Fantasticar. "And yeah. It's got a Hemi." Who cares?
