I think I will. Actually, I agree with Shryke that it would be hard to leave out one Terminator over the other if the series means so much to you. I only included one movie per series in my list. But I love both massively. Im sure you do the same.
But I was sure it was you who said he loved V For Vendetta. And it isn't in your list yet.....

I am not very good with these usernames. It took me ages just to get anny's!
Can you explain it to me, surfer? I've been trying to figure it out for ages and I'm still drawing a blank. I'd ask anny himself, but I'd kinda feel like a twerp, like there's some obvious reference that I'm just not getting...
And BTW, I am one of the people who said he loved V for Vendetta. But I know I'm not the only one.

Its an Arrested Development reference. Annyong is a Korean adopted by Lucille. I didn't get it until I was recently able to watch the series.
And I have mentioned before that I[i] love V For Vendetta. But Im pretty sure its not me Im thinking of.....

Yep, Annyong, great Arrested Develomenbt reference. And it gives the show one of its best running gag. They named the kid Annyong because he says "Annyong" often... but that's just because "Annyong" means "Hello" in Korean
So every time someone calls his name, he replies by his name lol I love that show !!!

Yeah it is based off an Arrested Development reference, one that doesn't really make sense at that. Annyong and GOB (George Oscar Bluth) are just two characters from AD, and I figured I'd just combine the two together. You could see it as a possible pun there making it Hello GOB (since as Chien mentions Annyong=Hello), or just me trying to be a smart-ass combining two names together plus putting my favourite number thrice at the end for good measure. Just see it as my two of my favourite characters from AD + 888.
Oh and no need to feel like a twerp asking me anything Shryke. Dude, I barely know what MY OWN handle means, so no biggie if you didn't know either...
Anywhoo, back to your list Geezer, which I've been silently observing from afar. Can't say I agree with a lot of it, but hey, that's what opinions are for...

2. V for Vendetta
Surfer, Shryke, you are not the only big fans of this movie, and I doubt you are quite as big a fan as I am. There is too much to say about this film, most of which I have already said. My first post ever in this forum was on good ol' tuan's infamous "nominate a 21st century masterpiece" thread. This was my nomination. When I first saw the movie, when it was over I was completely awestruck. I just sat there, almost unable to move. It hit me that hard. When the credits were done rolling I turned to my brother and said "that may have been the best movie I have ever seen." He agreed with me. From the action, to the acting to the plot, including the themes and meaning, it is perfect. It is not typical Wachowski Brothers. This film has meaning. And I'm not talking about the anti-American government bullshit that everyone brought up when it came up. It is not about that. It is a movie about opression, about heros, about the right to be yourself. Hugo Weaving as V is perfect. I couldn't even imagine any other voice for the part. For me, that would be like removing James Earl Jones from Darth Vader. Every single scene hit me so deeply and moved me. On top of all that, there were explosions, blood, violence, which was all so well done, because it is what the Wachowskis do best. It is a perfect film. It is a masterpiece. The only thing that prevents it from being my number one movie of all time is my undying love for the movie that changed me as a film lover above all else.
And the number one film of all time (not a surprise to anyone here) is...
1. Terminator 2: Judgment Day
I will start off by saying that there is a reason why this film is my all time favorite, and the first does not make the list. First of all, they are entirely different films. Sure they have the same world, and the same general story, but the way they were made is COMPLETELY different. The first Terminator is a good movie, but it is not one of my all time favorites. It made my list towards the bottom when I made it 5 years ago. Since then it has been knocked off. Kyle Reese as a hero just didnt really do it for me. The graphics were a little too cheesy. It was made a little bit before its time. I much prefer Arnold in the hero role than the villain. The story just doesn't grab me as well as the second. I also saw the second one before I ever saw the first, so it is almost for me as if the first was a prequel for the masterpiece that the second film is.
Now onto why I love Judgment Day so much. Its not the film I have seen more times than any other, but it is close. I don't remember exactly how old I was when I was introduced to the film, but I was very young. My dad introduced it to me. I was probably like 10. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen. I couldn't get enough of it. Even when I was too young to fully grasp the storyline, I still loved it. I loved Arnold as the Terminator. I loved watching the opening scene and hearing "bad to the bone." I loved every line that he delivered. The action sequences, are some of the most thrilling ever put on film. As cheesy as all of Edward Furlong's dialogue is in the movie, it works so well for the character and I wouldn't have it any other way. The T-1000 and the ability to shapeshift, how cool is that! Watching him get shot and get holes blown in him. The epic battle between the Terminators. Watching Arnold pull the steel rod out of himself. Fucking "Hasta La Vista Baby" and the liquid Nitrogen. Arnold with the damn mini gun! The best car chase scene that I have seen (well, truck and motorcycle chase). I can not even begin to say enough about this film. It is my favorite, it has always been my favorite. It topped my list from when I was 16. It tops my list now. I don't think anything could ever take it over. I really don't. Three of my other top 5 (V for Vendetta, Transformers and Boondock Saints) are movies I have seen between that list and this one, and none of them could match it. V comes close, but its still not quite there. I really don't see a film ever knocking this one off. I would have to be so blown away that I would see the movie 5 times in theaters (I've never seen a movie more than twice). I can't see T2 being dethrowned. I love it too much. It is my all time number one. It is a masterpiece. It is the true masterpiece of the Terminator films and of all James Cameron's work. Fuck Titanic, T2 is perfect.
So there you have it. My list of my 101 favorite films of all time. Of course it will always be changing as I see more and more films. Any final comments would be welcome now that you have the full list in front of you. Thank you for being patient and I hope you all had fun reading it. I've thoroughly enjoyed the discussion, and I hope it can continue! Have at it guys!

Great list Geez. Your top 10 has a bunch that made my list pretty high up as well. 3 of your top 10 made my top 20. I am also glad that your parents let you watch Saving Private Ryan. That movie is a must see for any American movie fan.
I completely agree with V. It is an amazing movie.
Anny: Wow Apparently I have never seen Arrested Development. I had no idea. So Chien is at least smarter/more knowledgable than Shryke and I regarding TV references. LOL

ahem.... well, Im not one to gloat but....
Well I got it right! I guess it proves that sometimes I do pay attention, it is a rare occasion, but it has happened. I love both movies that top your list Geez, both are visually outstanding, and the story backs each superbly.
Regarding V, I had, as an avid reader of the comic (Im sure I've read it at least 200 times...probably shouldn't admit that. Ah well, you all know my obsession with comics!) been anticipating this movie for a very long time. I was a little hesitant when I heard the Wachowskis were in charge, having not been too impressed by the sequels to The Matrix. I thought maybe their time was up, they had hit a rut and wouldn't be able to get out. And then to hear that Moore wasn't too impressed by the idea frightened me a little too. As with Sin City, it helps if the creator is one the comic is on the same team as the filmmakers, and I was a little worried that the Wachowskis vision would not match that of Moore or myself.
Well I was deeply wrong when I finally got to see it. It was a stunning piece of film, which despite veering from the novel a little, still captured the focus and intent. The acting was very good, the special effects exceptional (as I would expect) and the pace spot on. It was a truly thrilling ride, and one which I repeat at least every three months or so. Very good choice Geez.
As for T2: well what can I say that you haven't already addressed, it was a spectacular vision which Cameron pulled off perfectly. I still prefer the original, but Judgement Day is a completely different monster. A totally different style of film which, as you say, was finally helped by the progression of technology. Its such a great movie to sit down and watch every so often. Despite the further advancements of technology it still feels fresh and does not look dated at all. A stunning sequel to a fantastic series.
Thanks for the rundown Geez, it has been a completely different style to the one I originally posted up what be more than a month ago now, but it was a very enjoyable, and informative, look into yours, and everyone else's, fantastic tastes in movies. Yes there have been a few I've been thrown by (Willy Wonka, Gone in 60 seconds, 3 Adam Sandler movies!!!) but in the most I have at least respect for your choices. Well done, now get back to posting in some other threads!
p.s Donte, I don't think the fact that I, or Chien, knew anny's username reference is any indication of knowledge of tv references. I only found that out a few months ago, and Im sure there are hundreds, if not thousands of tv references which fly right over my head, but you and Shryke get in an instant. That's the great thing about this site though, everyone has been brought up in different generations and backgrounds, and so have so many reference points when it comes to movies and tv.

Thanks for explaining the Arrested Development connection, guys. Not surprised I never got it, given that I've never watched that show. (Sorry, sitcoms, even ones on HBO, just are not part of my standard viewing schedule, no matter how many awards they win.) So that's where annyong comes from... what about the gob888? Or am I asking one question too many? If that's the case, never mind.
Anyway, on to the Top 2.
#2. When I first saw V For Vendetta, I gave it an 8/10. I don't remember what it was that I didn't like, but those went away over time. A few months later, I rented it, and bumped it up to 9/10, with enough impetus to buy the DVD. Since then, I've watched it at least a half dozen more times, and it just gets better each time.
First, the obvious: the fact that Hugo Weaving can convey every emotion, every fragment of pain, every triumph, every failure through an immovable plasticine mask is tribute to his performance. Absolutely stellar. John Hurt marvelously OTT as the Big-Brother-ish Adam Sutler, which basically was his character in King Ralph after he had been been thrice daily in prison and survived. Natalie Portman (whose English "accent" has been oft-maligned but I found nothing wrong with it) gave a stirring performance as she slowly transforms from shrinking flower/victim to rebellious hero was incredible to behold. Stephen Fry was terrific, with the wit of Oscar Wilde. (That tribute to The Benny Hill Show was spot-on hilarious. And it just kept going....
But what did it for me, what made it a perfect 10/10, was the performance of Stephen Rea. His quietly overwrought, compassionate performance as Inspector Finch is what took this film from GREAT to OUTSTANDING. As his transformation, from a haggardly dutiful public servant to a full-blown hero (with his staunch refusal at the end to give another second of cooperation to a government that had long since eaten itself) was just magnificent. For those of you who haven't seen this film more than a couple of times, watch it again, and pay close attention to Rea's performance... the delivery of his lines, the expressions on his face, his body language. Absolutely perfect.
#1. Okay, I guess you CAN have T2 with Terminator on your list. The point is well-taken.
And you're right. About everything. This was not merely a summer action flick. Or a save-the-world-from-certain-disaster flick. Or even a by-the-numbers good-vs.-evil flick. The layers and sub-layers, the subtle nuances that permeated this film from top to bottom make this one of the greatest sci-fi/fantasy, action, or just DRAMATIC films of all time.
The effects were stellar, of course. Every scene involving the T-1000 (and really, could you have picked a more nondescript actor than Robert Patrick to play him?) was perfectly conceived and executed. (That bit at the end when Linda pumps round after round into him, then runs out of ammo, only to have Patrick stop, heal himself, look up and slowly wag his finger at her, was classic. She was her usual butt-kicking self, and Furlong, though probably the weakest character in the film, was decent.
But this was Arnold's picture, make no mistake. And the scene of the final fight, at the smelting plant, should make every single filmgoer's list for Top Scenes of the 90's, perhaps of all time. That final bit, where Arnold, having realized the value of human life, sacrifices himself, submerging inch by inch into the molten metal while the sympathetic strains of the theme music play, drives a dagger right through your heart. That I could cry for a Schwarzenegger character would have been laughable ten years earlier, but I don't think anyone would argue that point now.
Great list, geeze. Let's do this again in ten years or so. (Grin.)

Shryke, i think Anny already explained what it was all for farther back, but for explanation sake the number bit seems to just be something he liked, while Annyong (though adopted) is the youngest of the Bluth children, while G.O.B (George Oscar Bluth), pronounced like Job of the bible, is the eldest. Also GOB is played by Will Arnett , he's in the last bit of the clip i linked int he red sweater.

3 Adam Sandler movies!!!
Man there was a time where Adam Sandler was the best comedic actor in the business. He has lost his golden touch, but in the early days he was great!

I met Stephen Rea once. Very nice guy, very down to earth.,
Anyway, great list Geeze. Naturally, there's a few I wouldn't agree with (V for Vendetta may have a better chance of getting in my bottom 100 , but you prevented the posting of just another list, and made it into an episodic treat we were all waiting to hear about next.
So the question is.... who's next? chien? Shryke?

yeah, well Geezer... All in all... your list has some excellent films, films I absolutely love, including in your Top 10, so not bad, really.
I only like T2, and not adoooooore it, so this one's way too high for me... and like 6, I'm not a big fan of Vendetta, which is clearly in my point of view one of the films that fanboys overvalue in their hearts, but hey, that's your right
As for the Arrested Develoment reference Donte.. well it just happens I love the show, and I speak a few words of Korean, so that's a perfect reference for me to catch. But I miss 95% of the others on the site probably lol
Oh, and Six... I'm sure most people are a bit tired by all those lists by now...so maybe I won't put one online right away...
