UPDATE: 15-17 AUG. 2008

Tropic Thunder ( chosen by annyonggob888 ) did $25.8 M on OW and $36.8 M in its first 5 days. I'm not so sure that it will surpass the 100 mark... What do you think annyonggob888?
The Dark Knight had already $471 M. It's more than obvious that it will have more than $500 M and it will be the blockbuster of the year.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars did just $14.6 M and I don't think that it will surpass $50 M.
Mirrors did alright with $11.2 M and can surpass $30 M.
Vicky Cristina Barcelona, the last production of Woody Allen, with J. Bardem, P. Cruz and S. Johansson did 3.76 MM USD on less than 1.000 theaters...
Do you think that Pineapple Express can surpass $85-86 M? I doubt it!
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (chosen by delfinasu, numbersix_99, rob9802, pulpclub, annyonggob888, Lili, AzureWolf) was affected on its bad WOM and it will surpass $100 M by little...
Mamma Mia! (chosen by BanksIsDaFuture) is a pleasant surprise. The music-hall with M. Streep and P. Brosnan, on ABBA music, has already $116 M. It can surpass $130 M, Wanted and The Incredible Hulk...
Step Brothers (chosen by cRAzY) can surpass the 100 mark by little and Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D will surpass $90 M...
The X-Files: I Want to Believe was a great disappointment - it just surpassed $20 M by very little. My opinion is that it was released too late, like The Mummy 3. The single exception was Sex and the City.
You Don't Mess with the Zohan has little chances to surpass $100 M.

This weekend we'll have "Death Race", with J. Statham, "The House Bunny" o comedy with A. Faris, "The Longshots", a movie directed by Fred Durst (!!!) with Ice Cube and "The Rocker", o comedy with R. Wilson.

We have just 6 movies to be released from the ones chosen by us, so we'll see soon who'll have the most chances to win... I am sure that we'll have some surprises in the absence of Harry Potter 6. I think that besides Madagascar 2 and JB22 aka Quantum of Solace some chances will have the following movies: The Day the Earth Stood Still, Twilight, High School Musical 3 or Bolt. Maybe even Bedtime Stories, Seven Pounds, Yes Man, Eagle Eye, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button or Four Christmases. What do you think? The Tale of Despereaux can also be a surprise-hit (not for top 10, but still... $70-80 M)! Burn After Reading, Will Eisner's The Spirit and Body of Lies have a good director, very good cast and interesting screenplays, but they can even not surpass $100 M. What about Beverly Hills Chihuahua or Marley and Me? Remember the absence of HP 6...

Me too!! I seriously thought it would flame out at around $75M..what a miss for me. The last movie I regretted like this was '21', but I was almost sure that would bomb. America showed me. Lol.

Hello everyone!

The House Bunny had receipts of $ 14,533,702 in OW, quite good ... it may reach 40-45 in total ...
Death Race had only $ 12,621,090. I don't think that it will exceeds $ 40 MM ...
The Longshots - $ 4,080,687. It will be a surprise if it will surpass $15 M...
Who bet on The Rocker? Just $ 2,636,048 in its first 3 days ...
The Hamlet 2 ... May I say bomb? - only $ 439.925!

This weekend the following movies will be released:
Babylon A.D. - 15 in weekend / $ 35 MM in total
College - 5 / 15
Disaster Movie - 15 / 35 ...

What do you think??

Hamlet 2 is currently in limited release so that number is relatively acceptable. It's not a smash hit, but its not a bomb quite yet

Hamlet 2 was not even in top 10 PTA last week, with only $4,271 per theater. This 4-day Labor Day weekend, expanding on 1,597 theaters, I doubt that it would surpass $6 M. BUT indeed, the term BOMB must remain to other 2008 movies - MEET DAVE ($12 M BO/ 60 M budget), SPEED RACER (44 BO/ 120 budget) or THE LOVE GURU (32 BO/ 62 budget)

Yes, indeed those are bombs, i even picked Meet Dave and Love Guru on more than 3 slates, i suck! I think you have to pick them to really feel the pain of how badly they have done. I even had the chance to change Longshots to The House Bunny, pity i was too lazy!

Hamlet 2 got 1 PTA point because the first 5 movies and #'s 7 and 8 aren't counted in the FM game

I have a little surprise for you: Year to date (as of 08/31) standings: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pCSK4s5lCizFOu1phzMmbCQ !!!
Some surprises here: look at the bottom and at the top of standings I let you to comment
In my opinion the favorites are: jas_8382, JackO, delfinasu, geezer9687 and numbersix_99.
JackO and StnMan5 don't have bullets anymore and almost everyone has Madagascar: The Crate Escape and James Bond 22 still to be released.
I hope that Madagascar 2 will surpass $210 M

It will pass $100mil... but $120mil seems like the ceiling for TT. I was hoping for a bigger OW to be honest, but its legs have been surprising. I was championing Mamma Mia's chances back then, but it's just been solid while others have just underperformed. ie. Prince Caspian.

Here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pCSK4s5lCizHe2Gbbn2QfWg you'll find the update as of 10/05.
The standings are the same as of the last update, but the differences are changed. Now, I'm a little closer to No.1 who has $204.9 M in front of me... Madagascar 2, please be very very good! I need just a little more than $205 M... The favorites are: jas_8382, JackO, delfinasu, geezer9687 and SuperShaan. numbersix_99 has also a little chance for the top 3.
Almost everyone is waiting for Madagascar: The Crate Escape and James Bond 22 to be released
