Even that was too low. It will break the record with $157 million! Not bad for a sequel to a movie that struggled to hit $200 million.

Anyone think it's possible for TDK to pull defeat from the jaws of victory at this point and end up missing the OW record? Right now according to Mase, it's sitting at 113.78M needing 37.34M on Sunday to reach the record $115.11M. With all the front loading and people flocking to see it as soon as possible having gone to theaters already, could it have a Sunday drop big enough to fall a tiny bit short? Just curious.

Not gonna happen. Just saw the numbers, and anything better than a 27.6% drop for TDK on Sunday means it has the OW record. Which is going to be easy if the 17% drop they are predicting is anywhere near close. Unless they overpredicted by 10% on Sunday, i'd say congrats to TDK.

And Friday turned out bigger than the studio estimates say so I think it will easily win.

I'm going to say it will drop 51% in week two.

I can't see that, its gotta drop more. I think it has a great chance at being the top movie of the year now, and $350m is a definite target, but the bigger your first weekend, the bigger the drop. I'm calling for closer to a 60% drop.

Spider-Man 3 dropped 62% in week two, but that was due to bad word-of-mouth. Dead Man's Chest dropped 54% in week two. My prediction is in line with Dead Man's Chest but a few points lower due to the excellent word-of-mouth. If it's really lucky, you could see a drop in line with Batman Begins, the first Spider-Man or Shrek 2. (Why didn't Wall-E hold like Shrek 2? This easily shows the decline of animation in which even stars pack more in than quality.)

It has awesome word of mouth but it is really frontloaded. 60% drop could occur. I'll say around a 58% drop.

With this big of a OW, I'd expect at least a 55% drop. That has nothing to do with the quality of film or how interested people are to see it, it just has a lot to do with the impossibility of a slow drop from a record-setting OW.

Well, I have to eat some humble pie.
I was sure that TDK wouldn't take out Spidey.
Good to see the 3 day record going to a worthy film. Shame it isn't on many of my slates.
