What was wrong with it other than the previews lead everyone to believe that it was a hardcore action movie. Kinda like what M. Night did with the village. Previews tend to do that when the people who make them aren't really paying attention or haven't actually seen the movie. I guess it works though because a crap load of people spend a crap load of money to watch them. They just cuss and spit afterwards and complain they could've seen something else.

Honestly, the cast alone should make for a movie worth seeing, it was one I intended to, but sadly didn't, and now its somewhere in the depths of my netflix list...
I mean Jeremy Piven is one of those actors i love to see finally taking a lead role, considering his consistently brilliant acting in Entourage and his job well done on his numerous supporting roles.
With Piven, Ryan Reynolds, Jason Bateman, Ray Liotta, Andy Garcia, Ben Affleck (meh), Chris Pine, Alicia Keys, Common, and Wayne Newton.. C'MON! It kind of makes you wonder where to look first.
Like I said though, I didn't see it (yet), but it looks pretty likeable.

Smokin Aces is a good movie. It's not the hard core action movie people thought it would. It replaces the action with dark humor and a bunch of interwining subplots all leading to an eventfull climax.
And becs, Piven's character is the lead guy but his screen time is actually pretty limited.

I'm taking this time to currently add sunshine to my top ten list of 07, Even though I haven't posted one yet. It now remains in my Mental top ten list. Because I rather enjoyed the crap out of it.

Oh geez. I fell asleep each time i tried to watch smokin aces. The concept looked absolutely amazing but the only thing that really drew me towards it was my buddy Ryan Reynolds [who looks terrible with a beard by the way.] You can check out his full facial hair display in Amityville Horror which was a pretty decent film.

I'm kind of confused by Knocked Up and Reno 911 as top 10 movies... I mean reno 911.. really? We are past the halfway point of the year and that is the BEST of what has come out in theatres?
Sure Knocked Up was good, but I'm not entirely understanding of why everyone is raving about it... I thought it was on the same level as Catch and Release.
Either way, it is a testament to the lack of good movies that were made broadly available this year.

Knocked up was fantastic. Reno 911. while funny when watched with friends. Like all retarded comedies eventually loses its tastes. While its one of the many I liked this year. No way is it top ten material. Knocked up however.....well it was just great.

Catch and release was a great movie. Definately in my top 30 of the year. Awesome cast. It wasn't as funny as I thought it would be but I still loved it.
Gotta say. Olyphant is starting to grow on me. Between Live Free and Catch and Release I can't wait to see what he does in Hitman.
