Your post said 16 screens. I thought it said 14 screens.

Woah, IMDB has TDK listed as the 4th best film of ALL TIME, with a score of 9.7, or 9.0 depending on how the ratings system works. Now, obviously it's going to drop, but it's starting off higher than No Country and Ratatouille did, which means it will probably end up higher than them. I'd say it will stay at 8.5 minimum.

Damn, I need to to go lower so I have a chance of beating Shryke in the Fantalympics. I would give it a 1, but then I'd feel dirty.

I just look at its opening day like this

Spiderman 3 opening day: $59,841,919, 4252 theatres, $14,074 Theater average

59841919 divided by 4366 = 13706, e.g TDK only has to have a per theatre average of $13706 to have an equal opening day.

Say 400 seats per screening, average ticket price (with IMAX) $9, Batman only needs 4 sold out screenings per theater a day to have $14400 per theater average. And with some major theaters reporting 11 sold out Midnight shows alone e.g $40,000 from midnight screenings alone, im sure Batman wont have trouble beating Spidey

But don't forget the material. This is a dark film, too dark for some kids, and plenty of parents will not want to bring their 5-8 yr olds. That means that while the film will be selling out in the evenings, it won't sell as much as Spidey in the morning/afternoons, the peak time for families.

Exactly...Expect Wall-E to get a nice boost this weekend. Space Chimps could open considerably well, too.

Dark Dark Dark Dark that's is the most redundant {It's called THE DARK KNIGHT people } thing I've heard since reviews started coming out.

Space Chimps is going nowhere. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Wall-E had ample time to actually do something with it's run. I highly doubt that now, when the biggest behemoth the box office will see this year opens, is going to magically find it's legs.

P.S. There is always Mamma Mia for those who are too scared of the big bad Bat.

2nd Record Down:

TDK beats the Sith in Midnight sales

Dang, TDK has the new midnight record at $17+ million! Also, it is now the second biggest advance ticket seller on Fandango, selling around ten tickets a second on Fandango alone. I'm scared.

I really wouldn't have a problem, if I had a child, letting a 5-8 year old see this movie. It really is not that bad. It has some scary parts but it really is a triumph in the end. I would definitely let my kid see Batman. I can't possibly see it doing any serious damage.

Yeah, well, I read a Christian movie review of this that said he flinched more times during The Dark Knight than during Saw IV. That's saying something right there.

Yeah right, that was lie, he was completely exaggerating the point that this movie was dark, the Saw movies are the absolute most grotesque and disgusting movies ever. He is a liar.

Er.. why would you trust a Christian movie review in the first place?

Lets get something straight. I am a Christian. So yeah, I would trust a Christian movie review. And when I found out that The Dark Knight just barely escaped an R-rating, I knew I would have to find out just how violent this movie is to be allowed to see it. And about all that before, the reviewer said that it was because the violence in this movie felt a lot more realistic than in the Saw movies, even though it wasn't nearly as graphic.

I would say it feels more realistic because you care more for these characters than the Saw characters. Actually i dont know if 'realistic' is the right word.

What i'm trying to say is in Saw, when these random characters show up and something happens to them, you are like, 'eww, nasty, cool, or whatever' and you really dont care what happens to them.

Am i making any sense?

I guess I might as well post it now. My weekend O/U score was so obnoxiously high because I have TDK clocked in at 165.7. It's heading towards a 70 mill opening day. These numbers are not out of the question. And about the Dark stuff, I didn't mean to get snarky, sorry. Anyways, after seeling some tickets this afternoon, I can tell you that yes, the evenings will be near sell outs but the matinee shows are nothing to sneeze at. TDK was ahead of Mamma Mia every set and blew it away on my final set. However, MM is doing well but my theatre tends to trend toward to the older crowd. We only got rid of SATC two weeks ago and Indy this week.

P.S. Conservative estimates put it at 155 . . .
