On the other hand. Spiderman 3 made more and that movie sucked balls. I retract my previous statement.

Indeed, Spider-Boy 3 and crew robbed many Americans of their hard-earned cash. What thieves.

In my opinion, all michael bay films are retarded. Some of them are fun, like transformers, but the moment there was suppose to be a sentimental moment like when bumblebee was being taken away, I burst into laughter. The Island, Pearl Harbor, complete crap. I enjoy the rock, but only because it was complete crap, and nicholas cage's dialogue was amazing. "It was you...your the rocketman." Hilarious. Also, Chriss Columbus should die in a hole somewhere. He ruined the first two Potter films. They were so generically dull. I fell asleep during the second one when I realized I was watching shadows of creatures fighting in the big climactic duel. And don't even get me started on RENT. He screwed that up six ways to sunday. He didn't get the material at all. He turned each song into it's own individual entity rather than tieing them all together into a cohesive whole.

As for all time worst film, I'd have to say Troll 2, but than again, it is so bad that it is the most amazing film I have ever seen. "Oh my God, Nilbog is goblin spelled backwards!!!" Priceless.

I don't know if it is just the nature of the thread, the time of the month, or that someone peed on alot of people's cornflakes (thanks to my mom for that phrase), but it is unnecessarily mean on this thread. Between the ball sucking, idle death threats, and general hostility, this line thread is getting more unfun by the minute.

1. spannus, I am sorry I misquoted you. But humor my for a second and think about this- unlike other threads or posts where ideas or posts are lift, pirated and stolen without a second thought I did TRY to attribute a comment to the right person. Breathe. Your Shia hatred accidentally turned into love is nothing compared to having several people change your gender on an annonomous web site (see the gender thread for details.

2. People went to Spidey because it was GOOD ENOUGH as a movie, and coming off of a solid movie series. That is why studios invest in sequels. They are relatively safe risks with near guarenteed returns, and in addition, the studios get to repackage all the previous stuff and watch the masses rebuy it. why do you think some originals have free tickets to the sequel when they release the 1.5 version to masses on DVD? That is why Superman, despite the somewhat lackluster box office earnings (if 200+ mil can be called a failure) was still a success. The studio made a killing on royalties reboxing the other Superman movies.

As for Spidey specifically, i thought is was similar in quality to X3- too many characters, too many subplots, and an average to above average summer popcorn movie dwarfed by its predecessors.

3. (this is gonna hurt) I am by no means a fan of Chris Columbus. He has made some of the most unbearable films I have ever sat through (Nine Months, Stepmom) But, much to the hatred of the film geeks, he is a very financially successful director with at least three of his films being in the top 10 all time box office at one point and time (Home Alone, maybe Home Alone 2, the First Two Harry Potters). So as much as I hate to admit myself, me must have some idea of what he is doing.

I will admit to liking 5 of his films (here it comes)- Adventures in Babysitting, the first two Home Alones, and the first two Harry Potters. Babysitting is classic 80's comedy fluff (and I heard there is a remake in the works, for what it is worth. The Home Alones are very good kids/family films, that, while dated, still hold up better than most films of the era. The first HP's capture the world of HP in a way that someone who hadn't read the book can go in and enjoy the world with the person who read the book equally. (Don't get me started on the third- that is a whole other post.)

The Island was effing genius. One of the best original Sci Fi Blockbusters to come out in a while.

I liked The Island too. Honestly, I think that The Island was too smart for a Michael Bay audience.

Sorry, that just doesn't cut it. Good enough just doesn't cut it after coming off a near-masterpiece and one of the best sequels ever, Spider-Man 2.

Spider-Man 3
sucked many many hairy balls. Sam Raimi is also continuing to torture the world with crap like The Grudge films and other crap horror coming in the future.

HAHAHA, yes it did. But don't blame Raimi for the Grudge. He didn't direct it, just produced it, and tons of respectable names produce movies that turn up crap. Just look at Spielberg.

Oh god, where do I begin. Just because you make one hit like Home Alone doesn't mean you have the right to shower the world with your pee for the next two decades. Chris Columbus' movies are the epitamy of trash. And the first two Potter films were terrible. The only reason they did well was because they had the name Potter in them. Also, all the sheep who liked the book claim that the first two are great because they are so faithful to the books, and I am here to say thet books are meant for reading and don't make good movies. Most of the time you have to twist them a bit to make a good film. Just look at the LOTRs movies. Jackson twisted the story a bit to make a better movie. And take the Azkaban. Cuaron made the best Harry Potter movie, and he was the least faithful. Columbus ruined Harry Potter, and he ruined RENT. He is a destroyer of lives. And I hate his company name: 1492 Picutures. Thinks he is so damn clever. We get it, you have the same name, get over it. I want him to go make a documentary about grizzly bears in canada only to get eaten by them like Timothy Treadwell. I dream about it every night.
