BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM
[ ] Persepolis
[X] Ratatouille
[ ] Surf's Up
Even though I don't want it to win. Honestly, I would have voted for Surf's Up because I loved that movie, and all you nay-sayers can kiss my ass ------------------------------
BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM
[ ] 12 (Russia)
[ ] Beaufort (Israel)
[X] Die Fälscher; or, The Counterfeiters (Austria)
[ ] Katyn (Poland)
[ ] Mongol (Kazakhstan)
I haven't even seen any of these, but I have seen the trailer for the Counterfeiters and none of the other ones, which mean it is more accessible than the others, and accessibility is key at award shows, a fact that will become key for one of my major prediction later in the post......
Also, it looks awesome.
BEST FEATURE DOCUMENTARY
[X] No End in Sight
[ ] Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience
[ ] Sicko
[ ] Taxi to the Dark Side
[ ] War Dance
It's gonna be No End or Taxi. Sicko was not Moore's best, and he is too polarizing.
BEST DOCUMENTARY SHORT FILM
[X] La Corona
[ ] Freeheld
[ ] Salim Baba
[ ] Sari's Mother
I actually saw these. La Corona was beautiful. It should win. Freeheld is the next best choice.
BEST LIVE ACTION SHORT FILM
[X] Le Mozart des pickpockets; or, The Mozart of Pickpockets
[ ] Om natten; or, At Night
[ ] Il Supplente; or, The Substitute
[ ] Tanghi argentini; or, The Argentinian Tango
[ ] The Tonto Woman
I watched it. I liked it. It was adorable.
BEST ANIMATED SHORT FILM
[ ] I Met the Walrus
[ ] Madame Tutli-Putli
[ ] Moya lyubov; or, My Love
[ ] Même les pigeons vont au paradis; or, Even Pigeons Go to Heaven
[X] Peter & the Wolf
I'll be honest, I haven't seen any of these. It is a mindless vote. I recognize Peter and the Wolf, so I vote for it.
BEST ORIGINAL SCORE
[ ] 3:10 to Yuma
[X] Atonement
[ ] The Kite Runner
[ ] Michael Clayton
[ ] Ratatouille
The Academy loves scores to epics. LOTR, Life is Beautiful, Crouching Tiger, Dances with Wolves, Schindler's List. You put music to war and they love it. They also like epic love stories, like Brokeback Mountain and Titantic. Combine to make epic war romances and you get Atonement and The English Patient, which won in '97. Atonement has this is the bag.
BEST ORIGINAL SONG
[ ] "Raise It Up" (August Rush)
[ ] "Happy Working Song" (Enchanted)
[ ] "So Close" (Enchanted)
[ ] "That's How You Know" (Enchanted)
[X] "Falling Slowly" (Once)
I was gonna vote for That's How You Know, cause it was hilarious in the movie and was stuck in my head for quite some time afterwards, but then I decided to listen to Falling Slowly, and boy is it a beautiful song. I have to say it will win, cause it deserves it.
BEST MAKEUP
[X] La Môme; or, La Vie en rose
[ ] Norbit
[ ] Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
WTF, where is Sweeney?
BEST VISUAL EFFECTS
[ ] The Golden Compass
[ ] Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
[X] Transformers
Is it really a question?
BEST SOUND EDITING
[ ] The Bourne Ultimatum
[ ] No Country for Old Men
[ ] Ratatouille
[ ] There Will Be Blood
[X] Transformers
Gotta go with big budget explosions.
BEST EDITING
[ ] The Bourne Ultimatum
[ ] Into the Wild
[X] No Country for Old Men
[ ] Le Scaphandre et le papillon; or, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
[ ] There Will Be Blood
That fight on the street with the shotguns wins editing for me. Blood would be next.
BEST SOUND
[ ] 3:10 to Yuma
[ ] The Bourne Ultimatum
[ ] No Country for Old Men
[ ] Ratatouille
[X] Transformers
Repetative. Again, gotta go with big budget explosions. Bourne is biggest competition.
BEST COSTUME DESIGN
[ ] Across the Universe
[ ] Atonement
[ ] Elizabeth: The Golden Age
[ ] La Môme; or, La Vie en rose
[X] Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
It was the best thing about the movie. It soooo deserves this.
BEST ART DIRECTION
[ ] American Gangster
[X] Atonement
[ ] The Golden Compass
[ ] Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
[ ] There Will Be Blood
I would vote Sweeny, but we are saying what will win and the Academy is predictable: epic, war, period piece. Atonement. It will win these, cause it won't win anything else.
BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY
[ ] The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
[ ] Atonement
[ ] No Country for Old Men
[ ] Le Scaphandre et le papillon; or, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
[ ] There Will Be Blood
This is really hard. The hardest one I have had to choose. Will the academy will give a sympathy vote to Diving Bell, or go with the predictable Country. Hmmmm....We'll go with convention.
P.S. Again, WTF, I just noticed, where is Into The Wild in this catagory?
BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY
[ ] Atonement
[ ] Away from Her
[X] No Country for Old Men
[ ] Le Scaphandre et le papillon; or, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
[ ] There Will Be Blood
Writer's love the Coen Bros. Also, people will vote for them because I think that they are going to get overthrown for best picture..........
BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY
[X] Juno
[ ] Lars and the Real Girl
[ ] Michael Clayton
[ ] Ratatouille
[ ] The Savages
I love the writing of this film. And I love Cody. I actually have a little crush on her.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
[X] Ruby Dee, American Gangster
[ ] Saoirse Ronan, Atonement
[ ] Amy Ryan, Gone Baby Gone
[ ] Cate Blanchett, I'm Not There
[ ] Tilda Swinton, Michael Clayton
Here is where I am again having a lot of difficulty. I wanna say Blanchett, because she was phenomenal, the only good thing of that movie, and has gotten a lot of recognition. I also might go with Saoirse Ronan, since she did the best acting in that movie, but she is to young for them to recognize. In the end, the Academy likes to award people for their whole body of work, like the award is a lifetime achievement award like Scorsese last year. Dee is old and probably won't be in many more movies, and she also snagged the SAG award. They will give her the award for her lifetime achievement, tis sad, but true.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
[ ] Casey Affleck, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
[ ] Philip Seymour Hoffman, Charlie Wilson's War
[ ] Hal Holbrook, Into the Wild
[ ] Tom Wilkinson, Michael Clayton
[X] Javier Bardem, No Country for Old Men
This is obvious, not as obvious as Best Actor, but it is practically assured.
BEST ACTRESS
[X] Julie Christie, Away from Her
[ ] Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth: The Golden Age
[ ] Ellen Page, Juno
[ ] Marion Cotillard, La Môme; or, La Vie en rose
[ ] Laura Linney, The Savages
Sadly, my lovely favorite Ellen will not win, for she is too young and Julie is old, which the academy likes [see Ruby Dee ]. But fear not, she will get her due..........
BEST ACTOR
[ ] Viggo Mortensen, Eastern Promises
[ ] Tommy Lee Jones, In the Valley of Elah
[ ] George Clooney, Michael Clayton
[ ] Johnny Depp, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
[X] Daniel Day-Lewis, There Will Be Blood
Duh.
BEST DIRECTOR
[ ] Jason Reitman, Juno
[ ] Tony Gilroy, Michael Clayton
[X] Ethan and Joel Coen, No Country for Old Men
[ ] Julian Schnabel, Le Scaphandre et le papillon; or, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
[ ] Paul Thomas Anderson, There Will Be Blood
They need recognition for their amazing film. Schnabel is next best bet. Anderson's film is carried more by the amazing DDL than Anderson, Reitman is too young, and Gilroy...I don't know what he is doing here; I guess he is a filler.
BEST PICTURE
[ ] Atonement
[X] Juno
[ ] Michael Clayton
[ ] No Country for Old Men
[ ] There Will Be Blood
Oh yeah, I said it. And it isn't because of my own personal love for this film that is making me predict this. I truly think it will win. See, there are no picture that fits stereotypical model for Best Picture winners. Some may argue that Atonement does, but I say that the model has changed. Atonement fits the mold ten years ago with English Patient, but Brokeback fit that mold, and it lost to Crash. I don't think it has a chance. No Country and Blood not only will take votes from each other, but both are somewhat polarizing, because both are very violent and are vague. Clayton should just be happy for a nom, because it is a well crafted film, but people don't seem to be excited about it like they are the others. Juno will win. Firstly, because it is a very likeable film. Seriously, it doesn't have anything possibly polarizing about it like some of the others. Also, more people are likely to have seen it, since it is the only nomination to gross over 100 million dollars. Like I said way up top, being accessible is very important. Juno all the way!
I have to put some upset, so let it be best picture (and also supporting actress). There weren't really any last year, and I think there will be this time, and I think Best Picture has the best chance to be one. If I get it right with Juno, I will be a genious. If I am wrong, I was just a fool for going against the obvious No Country.
But come Monday morning, let me be worshipped as a God, mwahahahahaha !!!

I'd say the two biggest surprises last year were Alan Arkin for Best Supporting Actor and The Lives Of Others for Best Foreign Film.
Juno is an absolutely amazing film but will not win. Period. It can't. It's not Annie Hall, you know what I mean? It's a juvenile comedy that deals with adult issues. It's too immature is all.

BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM
[ ] Persepolis
[x] Ratatouille
[ ] Surf's Up
ratatouille should have been up for best picture. it's much more deserving of it than overraters like juno.
BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM
[ ] 12 (Russia)
[ ] Beaufort (Israel)
[ ] Die Fälscher; or, The Counterfeiters (Austria)
[ ] Katyn (Poland)
[x] Mongol (Kazakhstan)
only seen mongol. which was pretty good.
BEST FEATURE DOCUMENTARY
[ ] No End in Sight
[ ] Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience
[x] Sicko
[ ] Taxi to the Dark Side
[ ] War Dance
only seen sicko here, should be seen by more people.
BEST DOCUMENTARY SHORT FILM
[ ] La Corona
[ ] Freeheld
[x] Salim Baba
[ ] Sari's Mother
random pick, haven't seen any of them.
BEST LIVE ACTION SHORT FILM
[ ] Le Mozart des pickpockets; or, The Mozart of Pickpockets
[ ] Om natten; or, At Night
[ ] Il Supplente; or, The Substitute
[ ] Tanghi argentini; or, The Argentinian Tango
[x] The Tonto Woman
sounds erotic.
BEST ANIMATED SHORT FILM
[x] I Met the Walrus
[ ] Madame Tutli-Putli
[ ] Moya lyubov; or, My Love
[ ] Même les pigeons vont au paradis; or, Even Pigeons Go to Heaven
[ ] Peter & the Wolf
i want to meet a walrus.
BEST ORIGINAL SCORE
[ ] 3:10 to Yuma
[ ] Atonement
[ ] The Kite Runner
[ ] Michael Clayton
[x] Ratatouille
the atonement score is greatly overrated. the nominees for this category this year is a mess really. where is assassination of jesse james? hopefully rat-a-tat wins it.
BEST ORIGINAL SONG
[ ] "Raise It Up" (August Rush)
[ ] "Happy Working Song" (Enchanted)
[x] "So Close" (Enchanted)
[ ] "That's How You Know" (Enchanted)
[ ] "Falling Slowly" (Once)
so close is a hot movie. shu qi is just too hot.
BEST MAKEUP
[x] La Môme; or, La Vie en rose
[ ] Norbit
[ ] Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
they managed to make marrion cottilard, a hottie by any standards, look unattractive, but still fuckable. give 'em the award. as for norbit, bad movies don't deserve any oscars.
BEST VISUAL EFFECTS
[ ] The Golden Compass
[ ] Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
[x] Transformers
if transformers doesn't win here, then the voters have been masturbating too much.
BEST SOUND EDITING
[ ] The Bourne Ultimatum
[ ] No Country for Old Men
[ ] Ratatouille
[ ] There Will Be Blood
[ ] Transformers
yeah no country was very interesting. but my bet is on the films that had to create sound. so rat-a-tat or transformers will win it.
BEST EDITING
[x] The Bourne Ultimatum
[ ] Into the Wild
[ ] No Country for Old Men
[ ] Le Scaphandre et le papillon; or, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
[ ] There Will Be Blood
i don't understand how you judge editing? can someone explain? do they judge it by how fast an editor uses final cut pro or something?
BEST SOUND
[ ] 3:10 to Yuma
[ ] The Bourne Ultimatum
[ ] No Country for Old Men
[ ] Ratatouille
[x] Transformers
there were some pretty nifty sound fx in transformers.
BEST COSTUME DESIGN
[ ] Across the Universe
[ ] Atonement
[ ] Elizabeth: The Golden Age
[ ] La Môme; or, La Vie en rose
[x] Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
sweeney or atonement will win it.
BEST ART DIRECTION
[ ] American Gangster
[ ] Atonement
[ ] The Golden Compass
[x] Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
[ ] There Will Be Blood
golden compass????? as i've said, shit movies don't deserve any oscars.
BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY
[x] The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
[ ] Atonement
[ ] No Country for Old Men
[ ] Le Scaphandre et le papillon; or, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
[ ] There Will Be Blood
atonement has no chance. compared with the other four nominees, atonement's photography looked pedestrian. roger deakins has two noms so his votes will be split. so it will come down to blood and diving bell.
BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY
[ ] Atonement
[ ] Away from Her
[ ] No Country for Old Men
[x] Le Scaphandre et le papillon; or, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
[ ] There Will Be Blood
just watch diving bell and you'll see why it deserves it. sure, the others had great writing and all, but diving bell's is just unique really.
BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY
[ ] Juno
[ ] Lars and the Real Girl
[ ] Michael Clayton
[x] Ratatouille
[ ] The Savages
if juno wins, i will dedicate my life to hunting down diablo cody and then terminate her existance on this earth. send her to mars or something. ego's speech alone justifies rat-a-tat winning it.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
[ ] Ruby Dee, American Gangster
[ ] Saoirse Ronan, Atonement
[x] Amy Ryan, Gone Baby Gone
[ ] Cate Blanchett, I'm Not There
[ ] Tilda Swinton, Michael Clayton
haven't seen I'm not there, but it looks like shit. gone baby gone was a fantastic movie, and amy ryan was pretty great in it. if ruby dee wins, i will dedicate my life once i turn 70 to hunting down ruby dee and termianting her and her elderly friends.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
[x] Casey Affleck, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
[ ] Philip Seymour Hoffman, Charlie Wilson's War
[ ] Hal Holbrook, Into the Wild
[ ] Tom Wilkinson, Michael Clayton
[ ] Javier Bardem, No Country for Old Men
bardem's was iconic. but casey's was just so damn good it's hard not to forget him. but then the same can be said about the sugarman.
BEST ACTRESS
[ ] Julie Christie, Away from Her
[ ] Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth: The Golden Age
[ ] Ellen Page, Juno
[x] Marion Cotillard, La Môme; or, La Vie en rose
[ ] Laura Linney, The Savages
marion cottilard because she's hot basically, no other reason than that. if ellen page wins, babies will die a very painful death. trust me. i'll make sure of it.
BEST ACTOR
[ ] Viggo Mortensen, Eastern Promises
[ ] Tommy Lee Jones, In the Valley of Elah
[ ] George Clooney, Michael Clayton
[ ] Johnny Depp, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
[x] Daniel Day-Lewis, There Will Be Blood
if only eastern promises was a 3-hour epic, viggo would seriously give DDL a run for his money. but in the end, DDL's was more memorable.
BEST DIRECTOR
[ ] Jason Reitman, Juno
[ ] Tony Gilroy, Michael Clayton
[ ] Ethan and Joel Coen, No Country for Old Men
[x] Julian Schnabel, Le Scaphandre et le papillon; or, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
[ ] Paul Thomas Anderson, There Will Be Blood
jason reitman shouldn't even be there. this one is a hard one. i chose schnabel because i think diving bell took a lot more care to be crafted than the others. actually, scratch that, this is really a hard one to call. but people will choose the coens because a lot of people like them cunts.
BEST PICTURE
[ ] Atonement
[ ] Juno
[ ] Michael Clayton
[ ] No Country for Old Men
[x] There Will Be Blood
blood is the only movie i haven't seen of these nominees so i'm picking that because all the others have greatly disappointed me in one form or another. although michael clayton didn't disappoint at all, it was damn solid.
still this list sucks, what is juno doing there? retarded voters.
