Amazing for Step Up 2, good for Jumper. Jumper should still get the win though. I jumped on the Step Up 2 bandwagon with about half my slates so Í'm pretty happy...

Also, on another note, for this week I'm gonna discard Mase's projections (if he even has any for the 4-day weekend) because he'll already have the Thursday numbers if he makes them...

I'm just reminding everyone that it is going to have an imdb score of 2.5-3.5. So it's going to tank your numbers there, already having Hannah Montana on the slate, its not such a great pick (or roscoe jenkins, meet the spartans, or first sunday.) you can't have more than two of them and expect to win.

The last one was in the 5s, though, so I'll hold out hope.

I've added another source, from one of my other favourite (other than FM of course) movie sites-The Hollywood Stock Exchange, hsx.com. It's usually very accurate, basically as a consensus of thousands and thousands of traders have an impact on a movie's price which is determined by its gross.

Btw AzureWolf, the sources you gave seem to be slow on the uptake-they don't have forecasts for this weekend yet.

Yeah, blogcritics is slow, but cinematical had their's posted wednesday.

I am not buying it for a minute that with this many incredible movies out, Step Up will do as well as most are predicting.. MAYBE hitting Box office Mojo's lower projection, but I think even that is hopeful.

I'm going to save that prediction right now and tell you that it's going to do at least $23-24 million, and I would not be surprised in the least if it went higher

AHEM!!!!

Yes, higher than $24 million.

Even though Spiderwick Chronicles is going to rise from Thursday to Friday and Saturday, I can't see a movie having a $2 and a half million opening day on Thursday rising to about $7 million or $8 million on Friday and even more on Saturday. I guess it will have a disappointing opening.

Step Up 2 has the PTA edge on Jumper by 20$ if we take the 3 day weekend, but if they consider the 4-day, then it's below Jumper by a fair bit....

And In Bruges is the PTA winner for another week anyway, im afraid. Jumper and Step Up are battling it out for second.

I fail.

Wow. I wasn't expecting In Bruge to be that successful PTA wise. That's an expensive yet valuable pickup.

I'm a great fan of Martin McDonagh and so I gambled with 'In Bruges' -- and it looks like it paid off! This is a soft weekend coming up as well where big screen counts are concerned so only 'Vantage Point' might threaten. Limited screenings though should see 'The Counterfeiters' and 'Duchess of Langeais' with better PTA. Still, if it can continue to expand successfully... (!)
