Holy jumpin' catfish. According to Showbizdata, here's how the weekend shaped up:
[1.] NEW - Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married?: $21.49M
[2.] Michael Clayton: $11.51M
[3.] The Game Plan: $11.25M
[4.] NEW – We Own the Night: $10.54M
[5.] The Heartbreak Kid: $7.46M
[6.] NEW – Elizabeth: The Golden Age: $5.96M
[7.] The Kingdom: $4.69M
[8.] Across the Universe: $3.94M
[9.] Resident Evil: Extinction: $2.72M
[10.] Good Luck Chuck: $2.00M
Other than Tyler Perry, obviously, I think you gotta say the big winners are Resident Evil: Extinction, which just keeps hanging around and looks primed to push northwards of $60 million, and Across the Universe, which expanded really very well. The big loser, of course, is Elizabeth: The Golden Age, but, really, there's plenty of hemlock to go around: Sony CANNOT be pleased with We Own the Night's numbers, and although Michael Clayton expanded REALLY well, it's clearly not going to be a late-fall sleeper. This month is going to go down in the books as a victory for The Rock and Disney, and Milla Jovovich, and, well, that's about all, folks.
I remain, as always...
Nico.
