Don't get me wrong, geez, I think they will all perform better than is being predicted. In fact I think The Hulk could break out and possibly make in the region of $150m, which I see as a great success. SATC and Zohan should also make $100m each, but Im just a little nervous about all my slates now.

It is a little annoying that most of my worst slates have been in the Super Leagues though. In other leagues Im doing pretty good, and with a little luck could even win a regulars league. But I think my picks in the Super Leagues seem to be the ones that bomb each time.

Exactly why I pick one slate per season and just use it for every league. Its what I expect to be the 100% slate. So I use it everywhere. No need to experiment and end up kicking yourself for doing better in a not so important league.

I have tried continually to make my Super League slate my 100% slate, and when I assemble it think it looks kick ass. But within a couple of weeks I quickly regret the choices I had made. I only experiment in the other leagues to give my slates some variety and so that I can fit some movies I really like but expect not to do too well.

Im still not sure whether not picking Iron Man was a bad decision yet only time and Indy will tell. If Indy succeeds, and I expect it to, I will be safe in the knowledge that my slate will survive quite well. It was either Indy or Iron Man, and I think Indy will perform better over all. Iron Man has scared me a little, but that's only because it was released first. Once Indy comes out I hope all my doubts will be alleviated.

But then if you do poorly, you do poorly in every league. In fact you may as well just be in the one league (although different competitors I guess).
This problem is exacerbated in full year and half year because fail in one you are out of both (and they are pretty much the same competition.)

Each to their own, but I enjoy experimenting with different slates. If I only put the movies I like/want on the one slate I will need a 20 movie plus slate with unlimited funds.

And this is all just for fun. Now if there was money riding on it (or other equally important stakes) then I would be right alongside you with every slate the same.

Plus I am still learning. Until I get top 3 every time I play I will keep varying my slates, always searching for the best combos.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but there WILL be some kind of impromptu, unofficial cash prize awaiting the winner of the Ultimate FY tournament. Nico has already agreed to chip in $100 to a prize fund.

This particular tournament is ten rounds... once we hit the end of Round Five (end of July), I'll throw out the possibility if anyone would like to "pitch in" to a prize fund. By then, half of the field will have been eliminated and the really SERIOUS part of the schedule starts.

It would be completely voluntary, of course, only as much as they would want to send in, provided that they trust ME enough to keep all the cash in a shoebox under my bed until the winner had been determined. Optimally, if enough people chip in enough dough, we might be able to afford multiple prizes, say 1st-2nd-3rd. Again, provided that people trust me enough not to abscond with the retire-on-an-island sum of $187.50 or so. (Grin.)

I'll take any comments people might have on the subject, but I'm not going to make any formal announcements until later on on the summer.

Sounds good. Depending on the logistics of getting it to you and the amount I probably would participate. I like the idea of 3 prizes rather than a winner takes all. I apologise if I have inadvertently caused a premature announcement.

Leestu, I know its only a game and there are no real prizes (other than what was previously mentioned), but I just find it more gratifying when I build a slate and watch it succeed. During the December seasons I made a few different slates, two with NT2, and one with I Am Legend. I hated the fact that my I Am Legend slate outperformed the other 2, even though they all performed quite well. I am yet to have a terrible slate for any season (other than July Ultimate last year but I only had one league then) and I am confident enough that the one slate I do decide on will keep me towards the top of any league. I can always adjust them mid-season, but I adjust all of them. I would rather stick with what I believe to be the best and watch it fail, then cop out, build many, and say "oh well, that slate sucked but at least my backup slate performed well." That would be like making multiple brackets for the NCAA tournament. Its just wrong to me.

I agree with Leestu. I like playing multiple slates. I am way too ADD to only have 1 slate. And I am in no way good enough to win with oine slate. Sometimes you must reorg a slate in order to win. LOL
I have a lot of fun building multiple slates and seeing how they do. If I could play against myself in a league I would. Donte V. 1.0 versus Donte Beta etc. LOL
