I think To Kill A Mockingbird and Stand By Me are also in that category. And I am sure people might disagree but the only reason LOTR doesn't is because the books were SO special no movie could ever be good enough. But Peter Jackson came the closest possible.

Back to Wanted. I think it is a good sign that they are already planning the sequel. It says to me that they are confident in the quality of their product. As does not bothering about it being rated R. It is good to see them placing what they want to do with the movie above the financial concerns of 'it won't make as much if it is rated R'. I hope it does well, and I think I will try and see it.

Oh good additions, Leestu. I haven't seen "To Kill a Mockingbird" since high school but Stand by Me was one of my favorite childhood movies about 8 years before I knew it was Stephen King.

LOTR would have the same problem that any large novel/series would. Trying to cut too much out to make a movie of a watchable length rarely works. Even at almost 9 hours LOTR cut out quite a bit. LOL

And yeah they are classics and hard to live up to that level of perfection. Jackson did a great job but sometimes books just beat movies.

I get what you mean by 'watchable length', but i would of sat through LOTR and enjoyed it, if they would of adapted it page by page. Except for the Saving of the Shire Chapter, I think its very anti-climactic and I have no idea why that chapter is in an otherwise great book.

I also agree wtih leestu, yall should stop dogging on Wanted and saying 'OH, It's going to flop'. I think its refreshing that this director is trying to make a good movie and not worrying about, 'oh, we need to make it pg-13, so that we can make more money.'
