Is it safe to call Miracle At St. Anna a box office disaster? Especially since it was expected to be a big hit and all.

Also safe to say Fireproof is doing pretty good.

Those Kendricks sure seem to know what they're doing - Fireproof looks to be a hit considering the budget. Talk about hitting a target audience square in the head... they've made so much profit off their few movies it's ridiculous.

Nikki Finke's Deadline Hollywood has Eagle Eye with $9.4M for Friday and an expected huge bump for Saturday should produce a $27M OW.

Deadline Hollywood Daily says that Fireproof made $2.6 million Friday for 3rd place and will make $7.5 million for the weekend. The studio has announced an expansion of theaters next weekend. This is the hit of the weekend.

What's funny is that a lot of studio execs don't even know what Fireproof is. They were expecting it to be another "Proud American".

I was kinda hoping that Eagle Eye would break the September opening weekend record. That won't happen, but I still hope it hits $30 million for the weekend.

Also solid for Nights in Rodanthe.

Wow, glad I picked 'under' for Eagle Eye in Over/Under.... Didn't think it would be THAT much under though. I think the hype machine once again built this movie up to be bigger than it actually is. I mean, yeah it seems to be doing nice numbers, but most of us here expected it to do at least $30m, with a chance at taking the record.

Was Fireproof available in the leagues this month? I never noticed it, but it looks like a solid acquisition. Nights is doing as I expected and should hold well. I expect The Duchess and Appaloosa to be up there with the PTA this week too, although Choke looks to have bombed in that department. Shame, it looks good...

Fireproof was NOT available (one of the few that wasn't).

Yeah, I'd be interested to know how the PTA shakes out. Appaloosa is still showing in 14 theaters (same as last week), while The Duchess expands to 55 (from 7 last week). We'll see how that plays out in the Top 5 PTA.

So if Fireproof gets the #5 spot at the BO, the #6 will get that 1 point, right?

And, Buscemi, when was Miracle At St. Anna supposed to be a big hit?

Yea, its just like if Fireproof doesn't exist in this game and the one after it gets the point. Fireproof will probably be in the ranking of PTA too, but also just wont count.

Well it was expected to be this big Oscar contender with excellent word-of-mouth and great legs especially with Lee coming off of Inside Man but after the reviews came in, people stayed away.

And I also think that the film had a big budget (somewhere around $60 million) so a $3 million opening is just awful.

But didn't the same thing happen to Forgetting Sarah Marshall but they still gave each movie in the top 5 the same amount of points that they normally would?

I like your review Shryke. It's like my review's more accomplished and decorated older brother.

Everybody either loves it or hates it. I've seen many people give it an A+. The guys on "At the Movies" said that it was definately a must-see. And yet it only has a 26% tomatometer.
