There has been much debate on 300 on these boards. I have always been on the side of supporting this movie to the fullest. Completely awesome movie. Kickass visuals, badass hero, great action. I love it. No Country was just amazing and was well deserving of the best picture award. ROTK is obviously the best of the LOTR movies. Willy Wonka was my favorite movie when I was a kid and it still holds a special place in my heart, and on my list. Office Space is soooooo funny. A must see for absolutely everyone!

I loooove Die Hard's presence... and Back to the Future. Two of the truest "classics" of the 80's. Pure genius entertainment.
And "Office Space" !!!! YEAH !!!!! I love that comedy. Hilarious !

I love 300 to i mean a lot people hate it but i love it i mean good acting kick-ass battle sequences awesome effects a couple of hot chicks lots of bad-ass characters a creature with knives for hands doesnt get much better than that.
No Country For Old Men was fantastic defintley deserved such a thrilling compelling well acted film one of the best of 2007.
Office Space is a hillarious film.Really good comedy "Ah yeah when are you got get around to doing those Tps Reports". Classic
Return Of The King is actually the worst of The LOTR Films in my opinion it was pretty good but it dragged and dragged and dragged on.
You cant go wrong with Willy Wonka Gene Wilder was perfect for the role of willy wonka.

More mainly great additions there geez. 300 was great, and was fantastic for what it was, a stylish action flick mean't to entertain. The style was totally Miller, and despite it being directed by Snyder, I came out very impressed.
No Country will need some time and more viewings for me. It was absolutely rivetting viewing until the last 15 minutes, when I just got confused as to why they ended the movie in that manner. I think I just need to watch it again to fully understand.
Office Space - well I have said on numerous occasions why this movie is so important. Killer one liners. It must seriously be one of the most underrated comedies ever. Noone apart from us film geeks knows about it. Maybe that's a good thing....
As transformers mentioned, I think ROTK was the weakest of the LOTR movies, I came out feeling short changed and that the climax was not climatic enough. And I've already vented my feelings on the absurd final 30 minutes when they should have justed ended it at the crowning ceremony rather than drag it on. Even so, its still a good movie, just not as good as the previous two in my opinion.
Finally, I must be one of the only people to prefer Burton's vision of The Chocolate Factory to Gene Wilder's. I hated that movie as a kid. Probably didn't help that it was a musical, but the kid in it was a terrible actor (Freddie Highmore was much better), and at least Burton stuck to the original story. Im glad Roald Dahl disowned the movie and forced them to change the name, Willy Wonka was much creepier and there was much more story to follow. So contrary to what transformers says, I think Depp, not Wilder was the perfect choice for Willy Wonka, becuase Wilder's was nothing like the character from the book. Burton achieved Dahl's vision and made an example of what a Roald Dahl movie should look like.
Anyway, rant over, carry on.

SS, I loved Dahl as a kid, but the problem is that his writing is suggestive. To show Dahl's nastiness is to be vulgar, hence the crappiness of Burton's remake. The original version is much more interesting, and memorable.
Good choices, Geez, they're getting better and better. Except for 300, which is another film that I find utterly forgettable.

Surely Willy Wonka is more memorable just because its been shoved down our throats for 30 years!! How many time have you watched Burton's version. It will be less memorable if you have only seen it once.
And yes, Dahl's writing was quite disturbing, but that writing made him pretty much the best children's author ever. He is a massive best seller so obviously that style was not a problem. I loved all his books; The BFG, The Twits, George's Marvellous Medicine, Matilda as well as Charlie. It was the weirdness of these books that kept me hooked and separated his books from others. Burton's version was much more interesting than Wilder's. Wilder's was just a thinly scripted musical. Burton's encompassed the book, and had layers which I peel off on each viewing. Its by no means a masterpiece, but is definitely the definitive version of Charlie, and how Dahl had originally intended it to be, creepiness and all.

Personally I greatly prefer the Burton version, but that is mainly because I really appreciate his style/vision in general, moreso than appreciating it as a delivery of Dahl's vision. Ultimately I think it is the perfect story to twist the way Burton did, the original had a morbidity to it but tried to be overly kid friendly so it stayed very mild, the new version embraced that.

I will have none of this blasphemy on my forum damn it! What Tim Burton did to Willy Wonka is the single greatest disgrace ever put on film. Period. End of story. I punched a wall just watching the trailer.
P.S. When I have kids, I don't want them watching a "morbid" version of Willy Wonka. My kids will never see that piece of shit. If I could assassinate Tim Burton and get away with it I would. I feel that strongly. Yes I read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. No Willy Wonka isn't the same, but it is a masterpiece of children's cinema. If you can't fall in love with that film then I don't know what to say. I don't care that Burton's version was closer to the book, it is trash. Utter filfth. There will only ever be one Willy Wonka in my book: Gene Wilder.

30. 300
29. No Country for Old Men
28. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
27. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
26. Office Space
#30. LOVED this film. Apart from Sin City, this film felt more like a comic-book adaptation than any other film... because that's what Frank Miller does. Really looking forward to The Spirit.
#29. Tough film to watch. Very deserving of the Best Picture Oscar, but oh, so tough to sit through.
#28. One of my Top 5 films of ALL TIME. 'Nuff said.
#27. I think that the Tim Burton version IS more in keeping with Dahl's vision, and I've heard that he himself HATED the original version. Now, that being said, I have to share geezer's opinion. The original was delightful, and the Burton/Depp version was just not that pleasant to watch. And that tacked-on ending with Christopher Lee was SO not necessary.
#26. Has anyone seen my stapler?

24. Black Hawk Down
23. Rounders
22. Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
21. American History X
Ok so the film that I forgot was number 23: Rounders. As an avid poker player, this film is like the holy document of Vatican Law to me. It is amazing. I watch it like once a month. Matt Damon and Edward Norton are superb in it. Any poker player understands how important this movie is, and even non-poker players should see the greatness, as it is more than just a poker movie.
Anyways, The Big Lebowski is pure genius in every sense. Great story, great acting, great one liners, hilarious. Black Hawk Down has always been one of my favorites from the first time I saw it. I remember my mom had to get me into the theater back then and I'm glad she did, we both loved it. It is my second favorite war film of all time. Return of the Jedi is my second favorite of the Star Wars franchise, and they are all amazing. American History x is another one that belongs on anyone's list. Such a powerful movie. It is one that I rented, watched, then immediately ran out and bought. It is one of the best in my collection.

Duuuuuuude !
"Careful man, there's a beverage here !!!"
"Sometimes you eat the bar, and sometimes the bar, well, he eats you !"
The Big Lebowski, now geezer, no matter what you put as your 20 favorite films, you just earned my total respect by placing the Coen bros.' masterpiece that high on your list.
Return of the Jedi, okay, there's nothing wrong with putting a Star Wars film on a list.
I haven't seen American History X in a while, but it profoundly marked me, so good choice.
I'm not that much a fan of Black Hawk Down or Rounders. Nice films to me, but nothing more.

Im guessing you thought it sacriledge the minute you heard it was being remade too. I have never had the urge to punch a wall based on a trailer. The trailer cannot tell you if the movie is definitely going to be crap. You obviously disliked the movie before you had even seen it so you were bound to have a negative view on it. I would feel the same if anyone ever remade Star Wars (don't even think about it!!), but I would not be able to give an accurate assesment of the movie because of my prejudice against it.
P.S. When I have kids, I don't want them watching a "morbid" version of Willy Wonka. My kids will never see that piece of shit.
I feel exactly the same way about the first one. My kids will never watch that overly joyous, singing and dancing piece of crap that was allowed to be put onto print. Gene Wilder was the only watchable thing in the entire movie. For Christ's sake they removed the squirrel scene and replaced it with the turkey of a golden goose scene because they were afraid it would offend a few people. That is not the kind of movie I want my kids watching. My kids will watch the movie as it was originally intended, morbidity and all.
Regarding the new movies, Big Lebowski, Jedi and American History X are obvious choices, not a big fan of BHD, and haven't seen Rounders. Im not really a poker movie fan, but if Ed Norton is in it, Im sure it must be decent

You're right, it is exactly the same thing surfer. This was my FAVORITE movie when I was a child. I have watched it over and over and over again. I still love it just as much. It is the exact same thing as if you heard they were remaking star wars, imagine how mad you would get. That is how mad Charlie and the Chocolate Factory makes me.
