it's good that lucas isn't writing or directing that new star wars series or else it will be total crap like the one that came out of his ass in 99.

Off guys. I’m really sorry for you! We have 8 players who bet on Star Trek: Thomassi87, Nicodemus, SuperShaan, BrentBaines, J.I., Shryke42, Chienfantome and AzureWolf.

On a hand, we have the rule No.2 “these movies can't be replaced, once you have chosen'em! if you're unlucky and a movie will have the release date delayed for 2009, your bad.... so look out carefully for the movies who have the release date in December 2008, the WGA is still on strike...;”
It was the case of Angels and Demons and I, personally, hasn’t chosen Star Trek for this particular reason. I think that this movie is also a WGA strike victim… I don’t think that it will have a higher box office than the case it would be released in December this year… The competitors are very stong: X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Angels and Demons, Night at the Museum 2, Up…The initial reason for this rule was simple: let’s say, a movie will have the release date changed from July this year to any date in 2009. Until July you can achieve a series of helpfull infos (teaser, trailer released, any other infos of other movies) and you can choose more efficient, which is not OK with the players who put their choices earlier this year…

On the other hand, I don’t want to be considered a dictator. I repeat: I know that is "my show" but I don't want to upset anyone and I want to be fair-play with everybody, that's why I let the majority to decide if you are allowed to change your initial Top 10. We have 25 players, 8 betters on Star Trek. So, if (25-/2=17/2=8 players (others than the Star Trek bidders) say YES until, let’s say 1st of May, that's allright with me, else I consider your initial choices.

Until a decision will be made, thank you again Nico for your support.

If this were true, then I'd be screwed. And to tell the truth, I wouldn't mind if it stuffed up my picks. Seriously, if we happen to pick a film that unfortunately gets pushed back, then bad luck, I say.

I don't mean to be harsh to those affected by the Star Trek release delay, but if it were my pick (be it Tropic Thunder or anything else) then I'd just let it be...

Oh and speaking of which...

Let it be, let it be, let it be, oh let it be, whisper words of wisdom, let it be...

Sorry about that, I'm just listening to the Across The Universe soundtrack atm...

Hello ! I don't want to be mean... But all the players read the rulls from the beggining... so I think nobody should be aloud to change the movies that will be delayed till 2009 ! This is my opinion ! Sorry again...

Some responses / comments / random inanities...

cRAzY:

Nico. Man you know how to make a point... Completely agreed.
[Bowing] Thank you, good sir.

With that being said. I normally don't make plans to travel to see a movie unless I have money.(haa). Or unless it's something [extraordinary]. Star [W]ars anything is worth me driving and paying to see.
I commute pretty regularly to Houston, Austin and San Antonio to see movies with friends... Other than that, and the occasional Central Time Zone film festival, I really don't travel much for films. Of course, I was in L.A. in '99 for the Star Wars Line at Grauman's Chinese Theater, and in '02 I flew to New Zealand for The Two Towers. And, this year, with Cloverfield, I went to NYC. Dude. I have way too much discretionary income. [Sheepish grin]

Even if it means going all the way up to [D]allas...
I still find it hard to believe that people in Texas actually complain about driving distances. Some folks have to travel 100 miles to get to a Sam's Club, or a movie theater, and 350 for a Starbucks. [Shudder]

p.s. Maybe I should just do what the Fanboys are doing. I'll just steal a print from [S]kywalker [R]anch. Or drug Lucas and make him let me watch it.

p.p.s. When the hell is that movie coming out. I've already been waiting a frickin year. Release the dam thing already!!!
[Sigh] I know a guy who USED to be "inside" that production, and all I can say is, Lucas' meddling and its consequences really, really, really screwed up a lovely (though probably unmarketable) concept. I am so angry about this now that I'm not even planning on seeing Fanboys. A perfect paradigm of the sublimation of art to commerce, beauty to bullshit. I really can't talk about this any more, I may throw my cat into the ceiling fan or something.

J.I.:

I can't believe that if I had replaced [Star Trek] with The Hottie and the Nottie, my Top 10 List would have benefitted from it.
[SNARK!] Yeah, I was making fun of Prime, I think, a few days ago for picking The Hottie and the Nottie. Whups.

ashkul: (Hey, where ya been, partner?)

[I saw] a post somewhere that Tropic Thunder might get pushed back to January or something.... [J]ust wanted to let people know....
[Nodding] Variety has news on this here: http://weblogs.variety.com/thompsononhollywood/2008/02/lesher-reshuffl.html
...and Dark Horizons has a far more comprehensive story here: http://www.darkhorizons.com/news08/080214k.php

...Thunder's been pushed back five weeks, and there are big delays for other Paramount properties as well, such as the drama Case 39 and the Eddie Murphy vehicle Nowhereland.

Like I said, I can't believe the writer's strike isn't influencing all this in some way. Trek most definitely included, as it's Paramount's biggest property to be delayed...

Thanks for mentioning this, btw, ashkul!

Lubezki:

[It's] good that [L]ucas isn't writing or directing that new [S]tar [W]ars series or else it will be total crap like the one that came out of his ass in '99.
[Snort] Yeah, well, I hear ya, but, hey, it's Star Wars. Just like pizza, football and sex, even when it's bad, it's pretty good.

deflinasu: It's your show, buddy. Make the call. And, no thanks necessary, what's right is right.

anny:

Sorry about that, I'm just listening to the Across The Universe soundtrack..
Don't apologize. The only thing better than that film's soundtrack, was the film itself, in my opinion.

Finally, Lili:

Hello ! I don't want to be mean... But all the players read the [rules] from the beggining... so I think nobody should be aloud to change the movies that will be delayed till 2009 ! This is my opinion ! Sorry again...
I can see the Apology Bug is working its way through the Fantaverse population again. Fortunately, I'm immune. [Grin] I quite agree, Lili. However, again, I'll abide by delfinasu's (generous) terms, and the eventual preponderance of opinion.

I remain, as always...

I think rules are rules and fair is fair, so keep it how it was supposed to be. People read the rules before submitting their lists. Besides, i need to make up for the disaster that was Cloverfield.

$#!T!! oh well.... here's my list anyways, even if it doesn't count (i wouldn't have picked cloverfield by any long shot....):

Wall-E
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Madagascar 2
The Dark Knight
Hancock
Quantum of Solace
Sex and the City
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Tropic Thunder
Iron Man

there you have it!! i've picked Wall-E to top my list, Half Blood Prince to come in second and barely beat the other Prince....
