First of all here is a little article. which has some interesting things to say then i have a little video for you which goes even further. It also has some never before scenes from TDK.

Now that is good and all, but i have a question. If it does, is it still worth the $61 in Box Office and $49 in Ultimate

Short and sweet:

No for Box Office

Yes for Ultimate

No for biggest OW ever

P.S UDM, your "article" link doesn't lead anywhere...

P.P.S Not all of us can watch that video, not living in the U.S and all, you know...

I think it should cost more in Ultimate than Box Office. It will totally destroy every single Ultimate catagory. I could see myself spending $50+ in Ultimate, but not in BO.

I'm erring on the side of TDK this season in all leagues. I really find the mid-rangers to be overpriced and downright crappy this season. I don't think it'll reach the highest OW but it will really make a serious splash all over the summer landscape. I am even leaning towards it winning 3 weekends in a row. I mean the Mummy might be a franchise but there is no comparison this time around. I'm sure PE will make some noise too but really it's not going anywhere near the effect of TDK. As much as I was talking up Hancock, it doesn't have a chance in hell to be even close to where TDK ends up when all is said and done. Are you really going to depend on The X-files-5 years too late, Semi-Brothers, The Cartoon Wars, The Dummy, and The Women, and Mamma Mia when you can have a movie that as one reviewer calls a cinematic revolution!?

$152 million in three days is very possible. I was thinking about this but with it can come big drops and poor legs (similar to current record holder Spider-Man 3) but it could be the reverse (like with Dead Man's Chest).

And The X-Files won't bomb. There are just too many die-hard fans to cause that.

TDK= spewing hugeness all over the summer.

I think it'll be worth all the pennies. People will probably be seeing it lots of times. I'd (assumingly) rather see TDK 3 times than Step Brothers or The Mummy 3 once.

As for BOW record, it's a little iffy. I think it has a shot, but the fact that it's a dark movie might not make that happen. There were young'uns that went and saw Spiderman 3.

That's exactly along the lines I was thinking. The content (and to a lesser extent, the real life situation) is a little too dark to pull such a big OW but I expect it to hold better that Spiderman3 simply because TDK will have much better WOM (and less crying..I think, I hope, I pray.)

I think you are onto something Kompressr....it might be soo good that the kids wont actually matter. In saying that i dont think it will have the biggest OW ever but i reckon it could come very close. Its a bit early to put an exact figure on it but im sure 110+ is achievable.

No way it can get 150 in one weekend, I can see 110 or 120 tops.

It will destroy the summer though, I can see it grabbing 15 Top 5 points before Pineapple Express comes out.

It'll prolly end up with about 20-23 Top 5 points, handful of PTA, and prolly 280-300 by the end of September.

Wait a tick....*goes to add TDK to all slates*

TDK just doesn't have wide enough appeal to take largest opening weekend.
Your friendly neighbourhood Spiderman vs your violent vigilante Batman? Parents would take their kids to Spidey, but maybe not Batman.

I bet had Spider-Man come out during Batman's prime (late 1980's to early 1990's), it wouldn't have even hit $100 million.

Meanwhile, people are going to take their children to The Dark Knight. They did when Revenge Of The Sith came out despite Lucas urging parents not to.

It won't have the highest opening weekend ever but it's still going to be a huge hit. $100M is the floor for its opening weekend IMO. I think it's playable in every format except in July BO where it's priced at $61 because... holy crap, that's a lot of money. That said, in June BO and June/July Ultimate, I don't think you can go wrong at all.

*sigh* Why does everyone still think The Dark Knight's 3rd weekend will beat the opening weekend for The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor? Guys, it's not happening!

Agreed, Anny, Mummy 3 will win it's week, sadly.

Dark Knight should open to about 110 mil (There's NO WAY it will beat Spidey 3- that article fails to account for a better advance buzz due to hardcore fans) on OW, 60 mil on WE 2, and about 35 on WE3. Mummy 3 should open to about 50 mil, unfortunately.
